HUD-Bugs...

Post by dackelblut »

Oh my god, this game is terrible ;-) I used to play Elite on C64, then later on Amiga and later on PC and now it has me again - only worse :D Thanks to all of you putting in all this work. It´s really amazing.

Now my problem - I had Dr.Nils HUD up and running, liked it a lot, tried 1.7 and the background pic of the HUD is further up than it should be. Re-installed 1.65 - same problem. With fighter_HUD it is the same.

I´m using XP on a laptop and have tried removing all OPXs, did not work.

Thanks, Arne

Hi dackelblut, welcome to the Friendliest Board This Side of Reidquat!!™
The HUD misplacement bug is not an new one I'm afraid! I seem to recall that there was a fix devised for this, but I'm not finding it.......Ah-hah! Try this on for size and see how you look in the mirror.
By the way, you wouldn't like to purchase a cute and fluffy Trumble to accompany you while you travel world to world? Only Cr30, a real bargain!

The trouble was that 1.65 had a bug that made HUDS appear too low on the screen. So Dr Nill and the other HUD OXPers worked round this bug and told Oolite to display the HUD a little bit too high, so that the HUD appeared in the right place. The bug was fixed on 1.67, so now the OXPs that worked round the bug are now displaying the HUD too high! Can be fixed manualy by just altering the position in the .plist.
OXPS : The Assassins Guild, Asteroid Storm, The Bank of the Black Monks, Random Hits, The Galactic Almanac, Renegade Pirates can be downloaded from the Elite Wiki here.

Thanks for the quick answers and the offer. Maybe I should get a trumble and try all new recipies with it so we can finally replace the goat soup.

I was thinking about a Trumble-Curry. Yes, this sounds nice. I think it could work, just take some trumble filet, cut in 1" pieces, roast some ginger, onion and garlic in the special butter from Regeatge for about 5 minutes use about one sable spoon of Isti green curry and let it simmer a little while. After about two minutes you can add the trumble filet pieces and let them soak up the flavours really nicely. Then you add water and some Aanbiatian Alinet banana pieces. This needs about 10-15 minutes to simmer. And: DON`T use the food blender - we are not on Laeden!!!

Serve with a bit of rice - delicious!

I got this from the chef of the famous restaurant at the end of the universe...

Trumble Cuisine

Also this would add a variation to the usual (and after a while pretty boring) trumble BBQ :-)

Or we could use some special herbs for a very special trumble dish, unfortunately this would add a slight "ding" to our legal status - but it is

sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

good!

PS.: I want a new topic!!! Trumble á la carte

Hi Arne

Welcome to the Oolite BB.

Glad that you liked the HUD.

Sorry about the bug. I'll look into correcting it, when the next stable version arrives.

As LittleBear pointed out, it's a matter of adjusting the Y-value in the file ...\Oolite\AddOns\Dr_HUD.oxp\Config\hud.plist - that is changing the value -179 to something else until the HUD aligns again.

Code: Select all

			<key>y</key>
			<integer>-179</integer>

I'm working with 1.65 also, so fixing the HUD positions will have to wait until the next stable PC version of the game.

Dr_HUD.oxp contains a case error. hud.plist calls dr_hud.png but the file is named dr_HUD.oxp

Thank you Tinker.

It should work now.

(I still haven't fixed the issue with the post-1.65 coordinates though).

Yep changed the case of the image and all was OK.

In 1.71.2 I changed y to -175 and it is perfect, all I have to do now is edit a rusty fer de lance into the png and I will be a happy bunny.
