Found oolite a couple of months ago - wow ! The game that nearly cost me my degree is back!
Super idea and nice add-ons.
A couple of questions........
1. I downloaded the mission to "Hunt for the constrictor stolen from Xeer" mission - jumped to galaxy two and got lost - any help welcome! (or how to remove it !)
2. Have enjoyed the Tharg Wars 4.1 any thing else like this about?
Lastly - My copy keeps crashing is there a newer version / patch that solves this?
Anyway - must dash feel another trip or two coming on.

Re: Hello all and a quick question
Welcome, Commander Nomis, to the friendliest board this side of Riedquat. We're all nice chaps (as well as the odd few chapettes) who are ready (well most of us), willing (at least some of us are) and able (yeah okay, that's a complete lie) to help you.

The Constrictor mission is a native mission in Oolite and as such can't be 'removed', so I think you are referring to the 'Constrictor-morehints.oxp' (or something like that). This OXP was created to help commanders like yourself who got lost chasing the Constrictor from G1 to G2. Removing that won't really help either. Applying a little bit of logic and remembering that the Constrictor used it's Galactic Hyperdrive from the same system that (I hope) you jumped from and that it (like all ships in Oolite) is able to jump no more than 7ly at any one time, you can start a system-by-system search for information about the Constrictor's movements. The best way of doing this is by jumping into a system then checking the F7 (Planet Information) screen, to see if any other space-farers have encountered it. Before too long, you will come across reports of a ship in a certain system making a nuisance of itself. Go there, kill it and reap the rich rewards!Nomis wrote:1. You could always get hold of behemoth.oxp, which adds massive GalCop ships to the Ooniverse (and also increases the number of Thargoids to WitchSpace), Thargoid_Carrier.oxp which adds an immense (really!) Thargoid ship that launches Thargoid motherships, military.oxp that adds Leviathans and other naval ships (as well as a mission) and the newest of this line, Galactic Navy, one of the hottest and most debated OXPs yet released. They are all available on the OXP page of the Wiki.Nomis wrote:2. Have enjoyed the Tharg Wars 4.1 any thing else like this about?
If you could tell us the version number of the Oolite build you have, what system (and the specs, please) you run it on and what OXP you currently have installed in your AddOns folder, then one of the resident coding wizards can probably help you out. Since I have absolutely no aptitude for anything code-related.Nomis wrote:Lastly - My copy keeps crashing is there a newer version / patch that solves this?

My apologies, but my assumption was that Nomis already had T_T (what with quoting a version no.). Besides, having *even more* goody-goody, law-abiding, grey-jumpsuit-wearing flat-tops is NOT my ideal scenario. It makes Trumble-pushing a) difficult or b)positively hazardous to my health, wealth (especially) and happiness.Arexack_Heretic wrote:Adding all those Navy reinforcements without thinking about the opposition... it is quite what I'd expect from a trumblepusher such as you.

Why?
Most of them are either enamoured by furries or alternatively as corrupt to put you to shame, this leaves only 10% of officials who get their whiskers in a twist whenever they spot your rusting hulk barely clearing the docking slit.

Aaaand it's that 10% who issue tickets for immense fines that wipe out what little profit margin I tell my accountant to declare for Galactic Income Tax (GIT).....

....yes.
in fact of those 10%, 90% are of the aegis traffic controll department the remainder just hate cats.
It may have something to do with the increasingly more common excuse used when fined dangerous behaviour while in station Aegis juristiction.
It wasn't me! Trumbles blocked my viewscreen!
...It is also a known fact that felines have an instinctual attraction to the little furry buggers.

Trumbles, furballs. Ignoring the mucus and stomach-wrenching heaves, what's the difference?Arexack_Heretic wrote:...It is also a known fact that felines have an instinctual attraction to the little furry buggers.
