FireFly

Post by Kaleo »

Ok...

After searching fruitlessly for a FireFly mod for Oolite, I have come to the conclusion, There Isn't One.

Although I have seen a lot of people saying that they will or already are making one, I haven't actually seen one released.

Now, I am a bit of a novice when it comes to replicating ships from movies/TV shows in programs such as Maya, so If there is something I am missing, then it would be awesome if someone could point it out to me, otherwise I will have to make my own/port someone else's.

Well, for a start you could try out Charlie's ships. They are cool.

Check the Wiki OXP page here:-

I think the firefly is included in the Swift OXP (or it might be the Pallas).
OXPS : The Assassins Guild, Asteroid Storm, The Bank of the Black Monks, Random Hits, The Galactic Almanac, Renegade Pirates can be downloaded from the Elite Wiki here.

I wonder what happened to Charlie? Did GalCop's Black Ops dicision finally catch up with this diabolical schizophrenic (did you really think that Q, A and Dr. H.Z. were different people?) or perhaps he was lost in Witchspace experimenting with his latest mad scheme, the Reverse Galactic Hyperdrive (go from G8-G7 without all the rest).
Maybe he actually did create Oolite's first black hole and is presently endeavouring to escape it's gravitational pull, or else the Orbs got him.....

Why don't you PM and ask him that directly?
Sometimes reality can be stranger than any concoction of your(our) sick mind(s)... though it'll be hard to beat the odds on your theories!
You know those who, having been mugged and stabbed, fired, dog run over, house burned down, wife eloped with best friend, daughters becoming prostitutes and their countries invaded - still say that "all is well"?
I'm obviously not one of them.

WHAT!! And miss out on days of wild OT speculation, rumour-mongering, falsified sightings (I saw Charlie enjoying a gargleblaster on Xeer with Elvis!) and random nonsesica?

Not on your nelly, chum!

I've been having a look at the Firefly model, and it's a beast - might be a challenge to draw in 3d and keep the poly count reasonable.

I'm willing to give it a go though...

I know, I know, your attention span...

But, before you throw yourself into another project, what about the Aquila? (just asking )

man, that is a hard ship to draw. I've done the front end and the main cargo area so far, but it's all I can do at this point to not make it look like a rocking horse!

McLane: The aquila is getting a new paint job as I type. I'm putting in some panelling as you requested. I'm working on them in tandem when other priorities are not interfering.

Tonight is Comic Drawing Night, for instance... :-)

I can confirm that the firefly is in the swift.oxp - and very uber it is too! You might want to look at the model though, it's very nice.
