I had to reinstall my Linux and forgot to back up my Oolite. I was about two kills away from the Thargoid mission as well.

Grrrrr...

Ah yes back ups, a truism, there frequency is directly proportional to the amount of data you lose.

I'm intrigued. What could make you need to reinstall Linux?

Managed to make something go wrong by accidentally doing a make install / make uninstall when I actually had a different version of the same software installed by RPM. Tried reinstalling the relevant stuff but it was still busted.

Plus I had a load of stuff left over from when I changed desktop managers.

Not that I'm currently using Linux because it makes my laptop get far too hot, causing major slowdowns. E.g. Amarok stops when I scroll a Firefox window. I'm back on WinXP. Grrr.

Strange. I'd suggest a visit to www.linuxquestions.org.

A clear statement of the problem may result in an almost instant solution.
