Searchable Database of GalCop Worlds

Post by Selezen »

I've split this off from another thread so I don't derail it.

I've created a searchable database of GalCop planets on my site.

Find it at http://hughesd.co.uk/elite/pinfo

Features include:

 Searchable fields (only planetname at the moment, will expand)
 Listing of all planetary information as gathered from Oolite's map dump facility
 Dynamically generated interactive map of the galaxy on the planet data pages

More to come. Hope you find it useful!

This is first class, very well done indeed, it will come in very handy.

A "new search" button would be handy rather than multiple use of the back button, though sometimes I do remember to use alt+left arrow.

Yeah, cross-page linking is on the cards - I just slapped that site together when taking a break from trying to build a new comic management application. I'll be adding better links and a much better search engine and search results page next time I get a spare hour to type it all in. It's the simple stuff that I forget, 'cos it's boring. Making the map work was fun to do cos it meant playing about with layers and absolute positioning.

Man alive, what a geek! :-)

I'll linkify everything up tomorrow. I can't work on it any more tonight because for some reason my web site won't let me FTP to it any more.

It was done as part of a bigger project - have a look at http://hughesd.co.uk/eliterpg for info...
