If anyone's interested in purchasing a 2nd hand beeb w/ 32kb sideways RAM, ADFS, Disk Doctor & other gubbins (ideal for playing Elite as God intended), I gimme a shout...
Selezen promised to post it over here to see if any of you retro-'puter lovers were interested.

He hasn't, so I did.

Aw, shucks, I just threw out a box of 5.25" disks that I still had, which included ELITE for the Beeb, and my old BASIC and Assembler programmes.
(Including a GUI front end for the Beeb in 6k of code!)

Oh well....

It wasn't an original - it was a copy.
I remember trying to reverse engineer the original load up assembler code - it XORed itself 256 times! :o

On the Beeb DFS, there was a counter for disk writes. If that counter changed from 40 on the Elite disk, the disk wouldn't work.

We had to use a disk sector editor called BASIL to copy the disk.

Ah, those were the days.
