random Subents - possible?

Post by Killer Wolf »

hi.

we all know you can use the Role attribute to randomise ships by defining a few and using a number in brackets to give them a chance percentage of appearing, but is it possible to randomise subentities? say i was building a military craft that had a dorsal weapons pylon - is there any way at all of randomising what subent gets picked to populate the pylon, like say a Hydra rocket pack, a chain gun or whatever? Not to actually populate them as working weapons, just to give varying eye candy. like a hauler ship, i was wondering if you could build random cargo loads (of say crates, barrels etc) and have a hauler randomly populated w/ different loads for variety.

cheers...

Unfortunately no.

It is a much wanted feature by anyone who sets out to model a (set of) ships, but up till now subentities can opnly be called by their entry<key>.

It's why the tugs_oxp shipdata is so big: it has multiple copies towing different ships as subentities.
