Ah, thanks. I was under the impression that a paleolithic lump of old rock had to be Mount Rushmore reshaped in the image of Jagger, Richards et. al.

@ the size of my add: Oops! my fault. Thought it should be 512x256.

@ the display problem: I actually brought it to 512x512 by adding black bars above and below. Still crashing. And actually Oolite doesn't need it to be square. For another background picture I'm using an Oolite-screenshot with 512x400. No problem at all. Even if the size is not matching at all Oolite just re-sizes it, matching the .png to the screen (have tried that out). And thet screenshot is 72ppi as well as the add. So I really have no idea. And unfortunately I'm too overwhelmed by the sheer size of the crashlog to ifnd anything useful in there.

the fix LB mentions a few pages back is to change your image to 16 bits/channel before saving it out as a .png, this increases the filesize but it did fix the crashing error on the mac with some of the images in LB's assassins oxp
