Hidden secrets in Oolite’s Coriolis station

From Reddit (or more specifically, from an AI-generated side bar on the r/Oolite thread).

Gosh! Aren't these well hidden!

Oolite's Coriolis station is packed with hidden secrets and intriguing details that can enhance your gaming experience. Here are some of the most notable secrets and how to uncover them:

Hidden Door Codes

Waste Processing Station Basement Code
: The door code for the locked door in the basement of the waste processing station is 2711. This code can be found by paying attention to the tape players in front of the door and the numbers on the seats inside a nearby bus. "Password for the ground level four digit code is 2711"

Coriolis Station Dynamics

Understanding Gravity: The Coriolis station uses centrifugal force to simulate gravity. Higher areas within the station will have reduced gravity compared to lower levels. "Rotational force goes outward. Everyone have is foot pointing at the exterior, and the head to the center of the stations."

Realism vs. Game Design
: While the station's design is practical for a game, it might not be entirely realistic from an engineering perspective. "Even on-foot today, the Cutter stairs are about 4 feet tall, Doors range from about 5ft tall to 10feet tall."

Building and Colonizing

Coriolis Station Construction: Building a Coriolis station can be a daunting task, but it is rewarding. The key is to prioritize the construction of the Coriolis station over smaller outposts to avoid additional work. "If you want a Coriolis then make time, and do it first."

Resource Management: Collecting the necessary materials for construction can be time-consuming. Using a high-capacity ship like the Type-9 can help streamline the process. "Total number of materials needed for a Coriolis is 57,084 units."

Additional Secrets

Lever in the Controller Room: There is a mysterious lever in a room where you fight a controller, but its purpose is unclear. "I found a lever in a room where we fight with controller, but cant find any info about what it doing."

Hidden Stash: A monolith stash in the waste processing station may not always appear, which can be frustrating for players. "The monolithian stash in waste processing station doesnt appear to me after killing the controller."

There seems to be a role-playing game set in a Coriolis station: https://www.reddit.com/r/CoriolisRPG/ (source of some of the above) & https://freeleaguepublishing.com/games/coriolis/

Top strategies for trading in Oolite
Sources: r/Daytrading, r/TheRaceTo10Million, r/Forexstrategy +3 more

Trading in Oolite can be a complex endeavor, but with the right strategies, you can navigate the markets effectively. Here are some of the top strategies shared by Redditors that can help you succeed:

Opening Range Breakout (ORB) with Fibonacci Retracements

This strategy combines the Opening Range Breakout (ORB) with Fibonacci retracements to identify high-probability trading setups.

Identify the Opening Range: Determine the first 15-30 minutes of the session. A breakout of this range sets the initial direction. "First, I identify the opening range—usually the first 15-30 minutes of the session. A break of that high or low gives me the initial direction."

Wait for a Pullback: After the initial breakout, wait for the price to pull back. "I use that breakout as a signal, and then I wait for the inevitable pullback."

Use Fibonacci Levels: Draw Fibonacci levels from the session low to high (for a long setup) or high to low (for a short) on the 5-minute chart. Enter when the price retraces to the 50% or 61.8% level. "My sweet spot for an entry is waiting for price to retrace back to the 50% or 61.8% level after the initial breakout has already shown me the momentum."

Confirm with MACD: Use the MACD or another oscillator for final confirmation. "If I have an ORB breakout to the upside and price pulls back to the 61.8% Fib, I'll only take the long if the MACD is showing bullish divergence or is starting to curl back up from its midline."

Simple Hidden Bullish Divergence

This strategy focuses on identifying hidden bullish divergences to trade with the current trend.

Identify Higher Lows in Price: Look for instances where the price is making a higher low. "Price is making a higher low."

Identify Lower Lows in TSI: Simultaneously, look for the TSI (True Strength Index) oscillator to be making a lower low. "TSI (oscillator below) is making a lower low."

Enter the Trade: This setup indicates a potential good time to enter into the current trend. "This is your indication of a possible good time to enter into the current trend."

Consolidation → Manipulation → Distribution (AMD)

This strategy is based on the behavior of major players in the market, often referred to as the Accumulation, Manipulation, Distribution (AMD) model.

Consolidation: The price gets stuck in a narrow range, indicating accumulation by institutions. "The price gets stuck in a narrow range, without a clear direction."

Manipulation: The market makes a false breakout to sweep stops and capture liquidity. "The market makes a false breakout above or below the consolidation."

Distribution: The price moves strongly in the opposite direction of the false breakout, signaling the true trend. "The price moves strongly in the opposite direction of the false breakout."

Entry: Enter after the manipulation, looking for a break of structure, fair value gaps, or order blocks. "They enter after the manipulation, never during."

Automated Trading Strategies

For those who prefer a hands-off approach, automating your trading strategy can be a game-changer.

Backtesting and Refining: Spend time backtesting and refining your logic before going live. "After months of backtesting and refining my logic, I’ve finally managed to fully automate my day trading strategy."

Simulated Trading: Use a simulated account to test your bot in real-world conditions. "Please use a simulated account for several weeks if not several months before you finally commit real dollars."

Account for Slippage: Be aware of slippage and partial order fills when transitioning to live trading. "Have you thought about slippage and partial order fills?"

Additional Tips

Patience and Discipline: Trading requires patience and discipline. Avoid chasing trades and stick to your strategy. "The biggest benefit of this strategy is the insane risk-to-reward you can get. By entering on a Fib pullback, your stop loss can be really tight—just below the 78.6% or the recent swing low—while your profit target can aim for a new high/low of the day. The main setback? You need patience."

Continuous Learning: Stay informed and adapt your strategies as market conditions change. "Regime definitely matters. Context is super critical for strategy/set ups/edge."

From the sidebar on the r/Oolite thread!

If anybody can explain what this all means, then they probably deserve to be canonised by the Church of Giles the Creator!

Here's a hot tip for you: (honest) day-trading is not possible in any market that allows naked short-selling or high-frequency automated trading. Any discussions occurring on r/Daytrading are pertinent only to fantasists or third-worlders.

And none of that stuff could be in any way relevant to Oolite. What you have there is an example of AI slop being used to populate a sidebar.

Having said that, I've mentioned before I'd like to see a Galcopian Securities Exchange OXP-ed into Oolite. But it would need to be completely separate from the spot commodity market that we use to fill the cargo bay.

My shares in Cholzburton Dairies are doing okay, BTW.
