Re: Planetfall 2.0 (apparently)

I'm not sure if this is a Planetfall issue, or that I'm running v1.90 (the stable one) not 1.91 (the "dev" build), but for about the 47th time I've failed to d/l "Resources2".

(I remember getting this Box account for Oolite stuff. But I also remember it's ugly as sin and they muck with the images. I think I've told them where to shove their "AI enhancements, but I doubt they comply. (ForAll "they".)

Both SSs show an initial peak to about 1Mbps, a drop to about 100k, then time-out (Oolite.Space end, or mine ; I'm not sure) and I get between 145MB and 160 MB of the 167 MB download. I think PF/Resources is the largest expansion I've got, but I'm not certain of that. Regardless, I can't get it/

Could this be because I'm on 1.90, not 1.91? I think that 1.91 has the fixes for oolite.com -> oolite-space, but I've done the changes to the .ini files, so that shouldn't be an issue.
The profile of the D/L rate has a clear buffering aspect to it, probably at the oolite.space end. But I can cheerfully download a 4.7 GB DVD image, so it's not sheer download size.

I'm considering trying 1.91, but I've an obvious reluctance to touch "developer builds".

It’s unlikely to be a difference between 1.90 and 1.91 - if you’ve got 1.90 fixed for downloads, then the process is identical.

I can download the pack by clicking the link on the web, so it can certainly download. I can’t test inside Oolite at the moment though (at work) so I’ll try again this afternoon. Worst case is I break up the file into smaller chunks.

Well, I just downloaded it in 1.90 without a hitch. All I can do at this point is split the file up.

OK, new release is up, with the resources pack split into two. No other changes.

There's an out-of-game way of getting at the OXPs, OXZs, etc? (Doh! See below! Someone uploaded a new version while I wasn't looking.)

Ummm. Find the OXZ through the Wiki ; download from the link in that description (most of them have a link, IIRC) ; then manually install to somewhere in the .GNUstep tree. "~/GNUstep/Library/ApplicationSupport/Oolite/ManagedAddOns" on my system.
OK, found it in the Wiki - but it's 2 files (total size about the same as previously. And that came down at about 2.2 MBPS.
Extracting, I get 2 similar trees with {44+43+30+23} items and a couple of manifests. Which I have to wedge somehow into one zip file with one manifest. Or is the version of PlanetFall on the Wiki intended to work with these two resource files?

Just shunting the three OXZs into the ManagedAddOns folder ... the game loads, find a save game with the appropriate kit installed.

Fly into the station beacon after launching, and deciding to write notes into this message. I'm sure we've all done it. {SIGH}
This planet has two capital cities. Is there some Holyrood vs Westminster thing going on there? Whatever. They're next to each other.

Well, yes, the manual install seems to be working. I wonder if these station self-destruct codes work on planets? Sadly, no. And the planet still has a factory complex, a rubbish dump and it's original 3 capital cities.

Oh right, I see ; someone sneaked a change into the version in the extension manager in the last couple of days while I wasn't looking. Sneaky!
Going through the manual install route seems to have worked. So I don't know if it was just the size of the download that was breaking something, or ... BigFatQuestionMark.

Right-ho, I shall go exploring. At least, until the F1 is on the telly. I'll just grab Griff's new asteroids too.

Just probing if it was a download size issue.
Currently the largest object in the Expansion manager is "Lave is Earth 8k", at 130MB and some change. Which is giving about 1 minute of 1MBPS (I could get 2.2 MBPS by going to the wiki links). Then it drops to under 256 kBPS and slowly tails off. But it gets there at about the 12 minute mark. As I recall, the 160MB version of PLanetfall Resources was failing at about the 15 minute/ 145 MB mark.

Quick check - Do I get Lave in 8K? Yep.
So, it looks as if there's something in the server that breaks downloads at aboutb145MB/ 15 minutes timeout.

While trying out PF2 I noticed something weird :

Upon accessing the shipyard (F3 F3 ) in main station all listed ships were removed 1 by 1 until nothing was left.
Logs mentioned planetFall2_shipyards.js was run and it seems the station shipyard is now present only on the planet surface.

Maybe you can add a message to the station shipyard page that explains where the ships can be purchased now ?

Version 2.22 has been released. In this version:
- Displays a message when attempting to access shipyards on stations when they are located on planetary surfaces.
- Added option to disable the shallow approach angle requirement when landing on a surface location.
- Tweaked spawning logic so planetary locations can't be too close together, increasing the distance from the previous fix.

With thanks to Lone_Wolf for the suggestions.

Thanks, just tested it with FDL 3Gt(+) .

Took about 2 minutes to get close enough to the landing buoy and the turbulence was very noticeable.
Time was so long because I had to fly very slowly to keep Cabin Temperature from getting to explosion level.

Did one landing, am heading to geinona to visit the Royal Court for feudal mission and will try again there.

Landing at Geinona worked and also took about 2 minutes.

With Feudal PlanetFall Customisations installed there were no landing points, without it I could only find a factory site , rubbish dump and 3 capital city locations but no feudal court.

Is FP2 compatible with feudal states 1.16.3 or only with feudal states 2.x ?

It should be. I just did a quick test against v1.x and landing sites appear to be generated successfully. Which system were you in when you noted there were no landing sites?

In other news, a new version should be available shortly, which fixes an issue where shipyards were not viewable on stations that have overridden the "move shipyards to planet" option.

Доброго времени суток! Заметил что если установлено дополнение `PlanetLand` то оборудование из `Planetfall` недоступно, нет в меню. Думаю надо его в манифест добавить как конфликтующее.

Good day! I noticed that if the 'PlanetLand' add-on is installed, then the equipment from 'Planetfall' is not available, it is not in the menu. I think it should be added to the manifesto as conflicting.

Is it worth it? PlanetLand is not available outside of Roolite (unless one looks very hard). If you know enough to look for it, you know enough to realise it is a standalone and that it will probably conflict...
