Reorte is Hot Giant

Post by another_commander »

Following up on the discussion at the screenshots thread, here is the downlload for the expansion that changes Reorte to a hot giant with huge masses of red hot emissive gases.

I'm no expert on this sort of thing, but might not one expect to see some evidence of these red-hot emissions on the day-ward side of the planet too?

And thanks for the download!

This should work from 1.89 and upwards?

I may have messed up a bit. Planet illumination maps on the alpha channel already exist in 1.89/1.90, but the illuminationColor property for planets was implemented in 1.91. Which means that you will NOT be able to see the red color on the night side, you will only see gray on 1.90. Sorry about that, my bad.

That looks so different to v.1.91 that it seems untrue!

Did everyone notice that in cbr's image, Reorte does have the red streaking, but it's on the sunlit side, whereas in a_c's image it's on the night side?

I wanted to have the starlighted side a bit of red too, so it is a custom diffusemap, only to find out, the release I use does not show the effect.
