(WIP) Police Livery

I've got a few WIP's in the oven at the moment!

Here's another one I've been exploring.

At the moment, Vipers and Interceptors look the same, no matter where you go in the galaxy. However, could there be some room for localised liveries, to aid local spacers in recognising a GalCop presence? My thinking was to create a bunch of different sets of liveries that could then be used for the Vipers in a particular system or regions.

That was the idea anyway. What do you think? Worth some more time investment?

This one makes sense to me (if the systematisation/regionalisation is not too onerous).

I currently have fours sets (ie Viper, Viper Pursuit, Viper Interceptor) designed:

Top left 3: Blue and white theme.
Top right 3: Black and white theme.
Bottom left 3: Blue and yellow theme.
Bottom right 3: Green and white theme.

Feel free start suggesting where these sets might best fit.

The different Galactic regions are crying out to be more... different.

I get that they each have a different layout but that only really becomes apparent upon exploring and sometimes only extensively so. For example, is an area of galaxy x+1 really very different than a particular corner of galaxy x? Often, the answer is no.

If you don't have enough for each galaxy then you can just blur the boundaries. e.g. Texture one in galaxies 1,2 & 3, texture 2 in galaxies 3, 4 & 5, texture 3 in galaxies 5,6 & 7, texture 4 in galaxies 7,8 & 1; then each region still has a unique blend if not a unique texture.

Or, start working towards a Corporate States OXP.

You now have the designs for Ceesxe, Onrira, Onera and either Enonla or Rexebe (Riredi has its own!). Don't need to do them all (Feudal States doesn't).



Add in the SothisTC, Taxi Galactica, Ring Racer and the Saleza Aeronautics ships... and boom!

Actually, it makes sense that the corp states might be in a better position to fund Galcop livery for their spacelanes. And if I get the Anaconda Liners up and running, with them largely only being in the safer systems, there are some good components of a corp state oxp.

Looks really good with some nice ideas. Too bad Flashers cannot be turned on and off. Ideally Galcop Vipers should have Flashers on when in pursuit or in combat. The Flashers would then be off when they are just cruising on by your ship.

ship.lightsActive = false; should turn any flashers off (set the value to false), or on (set the value to true)

firstly, those liveries look awesome.
i also think specific liveries would be good, after all each US state has a different scheme or at least badge.

secondly - am i hallucination, cos i could swear vipers used to cruise about w/out flashing lights which would then come on if their alert state changed? or am i confusing w/ maybe the Amiga Elite??

Really... Never noticed this behavior before, distance perhaps. Did a quick look at the Vipers in the default shipdata.plist and they do have the
initially_on = no variable set for their Flashers. What then determines when the state of the Flashers changes as there was no condition_script attached to the Vipers? In any case the next time a fight comes about involving Vipers will get in close to try and see the Flashers both during and after the fight. Live and learn.
