Hi,
I just found out about Oolite. I downloaded the game and it looks fantastic but I'd really like to have my pitch axis inverted (I'm using a joystick but I prefer it that way) - is there a way to do it by editing some config files?
Fly safe (with inverted pitch axis or not )

Welcome!
There will be others along presently who will understand what an "inverted pitch axis" is, but in the interim this might help: Keyboard Issues if you are referring to the keys, or perhaps this (Joysticks: Guide to Setting Up) if to your joystick.
Inverted pitch axis means the joystick works in the opposite way to how it works by default. Ie pushing forward on the joystick will pitch the ship up, pulling back would pitch the ship down.
There’s no interval setting to achieve this, but it might be worth having a look at the Reverse Control OXP. It does kind of what you want, but for the rear view. It might be easy to change to do something similar to the front view.
In which case, it is all sortable out via "Joystick Configuration" (which asks which side you push towards for up and which for down).
Joystick configuration just sets which axis you want to use for pitch. In my case, when I set the axis, I can push up or down - it doesn't matter which - and that axis is now applied to the pitch. You can't swap around the axis itself. Once the axis is set, up stick points the nose down, and down stick points the nose up, every time.
You might be able to use a tool like AntiMicroX to remap the joystick inputs.
Thanks for your replies, I tried using AntiMicroX but no success so far. I also checked Reverse Control OXP and maybe it would be possible to achieve something like that for the front view?
Thank you! I tried the tutorial and it was not working but everything is fine in standard "new game" mode.
I'm glad I found out about this game and that its community is so helpful
If the yaw and roll controls are reversed for the joysticks, it should be relatively easy to modify the OXP so it only affects pitch - and that for all 4 views. If you have a stab at it, go for the simplest of the OXPs (without inertia, for example) - the switch is probably defined there to act in the rear view only.
A tip from Cody: rather than recreate an entire OXP you can just take the required script and place it in a suitably-named folder in your AddOns folder (not Managed Addons). Then it's much easier to tweak if that is needed.
The Oolite tutorial is really a "scenario" which excludes all OXPs. But scripts in folders might get through.
