Ship for Bounty hunter

Post by TureModder »

I'm not very good at finding tiles.
Anyway.
I need advice on the game. I would like to pursue a career as a bounty hunter, but I haven't figured out if I can buy ship more suitable for this purpose or if I have to make my Cobra MK 3 a suitable ship by installing the various modules. looking in the library I saw other ships (like the Krait or the Mamba or the gal cop viper) but it doesn't seem possible to buy in the base game.

You buy on the F3F3 screen when docked - and the selection of ships for sale varies (i) with the system and (ii) with each visit to that system.

As regards which ship is best for bounty hunting you will need advice from someone who knows more than I do!

Bounty Hunting for a Large Profit is difficult as most Bounties tend towards the lower end of the scale. It is still a worthwhile pursuit provided you have a VERY Iron Ass Ship that allows your Elite piloting skills to take on and beat Large Pirate Groups of ten or more. Even at that level your profits will not be huge. The key is to mix in a goodly amount of Trading as well. This provides a two fold purpose. First it makes you look like a Trader to those Large Pirate Groups prompting them to attack you. Although there is something to be said for you attacking them as they usually do not expect such a move. Second it is and always will be a good way to turn a Large Profit. Based on this you need a ship that is capable of having both a Very Iron Ass and a Large Cargo Capacity. Dual purpose ships with both of these characteristics are few and far between but they are out there. Start your search for such a ship and you are on your way to the rousing life of a Bounty Hunter.

Thanks Guys.
As I continued further into the game I noticed that I can improve the Mark III to make it a good ship for a bounty hunter.
It's true that i don't earn much but it's a lot of fun. even if at the moment I don't go against pirates, but I lend a hand to the police when I see a firefight. the last time I chased one that was running away even though in the chaos i blow up the cargo.

I recommend - if you can afford it - my Fer-de-lance 3G, in one of its higher-end models. ('My' as in I designed it.) Admittedly this ship is arguably a bit too 'uber'.

Bumping this post, since it's the most recent one on the theme I've been wondering about.

I got myself a Wolf Mk II, which seems a good upgrade on the Cobra Mk III. Only 20T cargo, but the additional energy banks are a lifesaver, and the extra speed is nice.

I can hold my own against 5 pirates without damage, but more than that is too much for me right now.

My only real complaint is it I could do with something with a better turn radius to get inside small ships without nearly stopping.

What would be a good upgrade from the Wolf? Or is there anything with similar stats but a bigger cargo hold?

'Inside' small ships?

Did you check out my Ferdies? The page that I linked above has a table that lists cargo capacity, for one thing.

As in when they're circling and showing their top or underside and you pull a high-G turn to keep them in view. If I slow down almost all the way I can do so, but that makes it easier for others in the fur-ball to target you as you're virtually motionless.

I had a quick look. I'm not at the 1.44M credits mark yet, but would be worth a look when I have the cash. Or I can go shoot up some more rich aristocrats in a Hunting Lodge.

Aha.

I had to reacquaint myself with the 'Hunting Lodge'. Well, I say that, but this page gives little away about the actual gameplay!

It's a terrible cheat. 10kCr stake, 10:1 odds and all you have to do is take a single opposing vessel down to 'weak' without destroying it.

Heh.

I thought that Phkb's current javascript version (v.2.1) rectified all that. Am I mistaken?

To be honest I've not tried since I've been back into the game.

Guess I'll need to grind to afford a 3G then ;)
