Criminal Status ?

Hi everyone.
I'm opening this discussion because I can't quite understand what triggers criminal status.
in one system I became a criminal without knowing it, while in another system (Leesti) I became a criminal as soon as I left the station (I had just bought the narcotics).
I think the problem is the goods I transport. in Leesti I became criminal as soon as I set the course towards Diso.
Are there any goods that are illegal? If so, how do I understand what they are?
and why are they in the general market? shouldn't they be in a different market?

Firearms, narcotics and slaves are illegal in the core game. Feel free to buy (big fluctuations in prices can make a tidy profit) but if you launch from main station with them, u get tagged! U can dock and sell them though if you pick them up from somewhere shifty!
To be honest, I’m not sure if it’s only main stations that scan on departure. Do others?

ah ok, so they are illegal regardless of the governance of the system. I don't think they scan at launch, because I only got the criminal status after selecting the destination. but in what sense main stations? I thought there were only one station per system. are there others?

There are multiple things that can be docked with, such as rock hermits, and dozens of others that can be added by OXPs…
The best thing about Oolite are the expansions to you own personal Oolite world. Have a look around the wiki for some ideas!

As noted, three commodities are illegal to export. They're on the market screen so you can sell booty you've scooped after destroying pirates. You're not supposed to buy them, if you're a law-abiding citizen. Notice also, "alien items" on the market screen, only so you can sell scooped Thargoids.

If you launch with illegal exports, a bounty is applied to you immediately. Police ships nearby scan you every few seconds, and each time they scan there is a chance they'll notice your bounty. The longer you stay near a police vessel the more danger you are in, because eventually they will notice your bounty and attack you.
