I'm not a programmer.
So i will ask you if it is possible to change the enviroment. Like Stars, Galaxies, ingame Tables and Soundfiles.
Is someone working on parts of it? If not, can we talk over the possibillities to make Oolite smarter?

You cannot remove a system, but you can change everything about it including the description name, govement, ships appearing there etc with an OXP, new planets can be added etc. Missions can also be added.
Take a look at the Scripts in Mission OXPs. Assassins changes 30 odd systems (some several times as stuff the player and NPCs do changes the Ooniverse). Lots of other OXPs use this trick.
The HUD can be changed (see most of Wolfwoods ships for example).
Sound flies can be changed (Install Milink's custom sounds for lots of cool speach and sound effects.)
The one thing that I don't think can be changed though is the screen layout of the F3 screen F8 screen etc. You can add new equipment (for example to the game), but the Shipyard screen itself is hardcoded.

The galaxies and star maps are fixed and generated by an algorithm so they can't be changed.
There are a number of other xml files in Config you can tweak, but not that much.

I completely agree with you here. It would be very nice if the rest of the interface (like trading and map screens, bars on the HUD etc.) could get a visual update - and seeing you work on the ships, I would mind seeing your suggestions for how things could look.Sung wrote:I'm not a programmer.

Perhaps posting screen shots with you ideas for some of the screens could convince one the programmers to put screens supplied by you into the game - or at least a branch to begin with.
