Deep Horizons

Post by onno256 »

Hi everybody,

Been playing Deep Horizons, and it works just fine on my system, a lot of gas giants for sure, but it doesn't bother me, I can think of a number of reasons they'd want to place a station near a gas giant.

Plus the giants look awesome, and are a handy resource for fuel and goods!

Onno signing off,
Greetz.

Is this (Deep Horizon - Systems v0.5.1 (Beta)) compatible with Famous Planets 2.5?

I just got back into Oolite (1.74.2) after a long hiatus, I am still catching up with developments after Oolite 1.73.x

EDIT ; NEVERMIND ; I just tried it, and it DOES seem to be compatible with Famous Planets 2.5.

No oxp can be compatible with FamousPlanets 2.5. That is because PF claims some planets in G3-G8 but has no texture for those planets. This results in any script trying to be compatible gets wrong info. For G1 and G2 things should be okay.

Eric;

Thanks, that's nice to know.

I think I will just wait for (quite a long) while before I use any planet retexturing OXPs then. I played with several over the past day, and my head is starting to spin. Which is a terrible thing to behold. Keeps Thargoids away, though; I think it scares them.

DHI-Systems is compatible with Famous Planets 2.5.

Yes, FP has a bug where it claims additional planets in galaxies it does not yet texture itself, but that does not mean DHI-Systems has a bug. This is easily correctible in FP.

Available from the Deep Horizon Industries website.
Alas, the Website seems to have foundered in Saint Giles's Pool of Pellucid Placidity.

I've uploaded the following to our wiki:

File:Deep Horizon-Systems Engine.oxp.zip 13Kb
File:FP2 DH-Sys Script.zip 3Kb
File:Deep Horizon-Systems-ArtPack1.oxp.zip 2.01 Mb
File:Deep Horizons-Pirate Ambushes.zip 9Kb
File:Deep Horizons-Gas Giant Skimming.zip 23Kb

But don't have copies of the larger planet textures files:

Low Resolution Texture Pack - 3/2/2011 (11.6 MB)
Standard Resolution Texture Pack - 3/2/2011 (22 MB)

Nor a copy of "Lights Down"

Can anybody help out?

It just occurs to me: Almost all our OXZs are hosted on the wiki. Plus a humongous documentation effort is hosted as well.
Do we have backups anywhere? What would happen if that site - for whatever reason - goes down?

Yes. I think that Maik backs it up once a week: https://bb.oolite.space/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=20847

Winston may well have something too.

Both are no longer active here.
Do we have a chance of running our own backup?
Maybe one of those is willing to disclose some information?
