Fresh Kali Linux: libSDL problem

Post by Cas Tell »

I've set up a new Kali Linux computer w/ NVidia graphics card. All seems to run fine so far.
Installed Oolite but it crashes right away:

Code: Select all

$ /opt/Oolite/oolite.app/oolite
/opt/Oolite/oolite.app/oolite: error while loading shared libraries: libSDL-1.2.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
What's the problem here?

I've tested also

Code: Select all

/home/hmb/GNUstep/Applications/Oolite/oolite
which gives

Code: Select all

Aborted

Erk. It looks like Oolite died with an error. When making an error
report, please copy + paste the log above into the report.

(Press Ctrl-C to continue)
Needless to say, the log is empty.

I have installed libsdl release 2.28.5 from their github site, but this changed not a bit.

I'm not sure I can help, but can I confirm if this was the standard 1.90 installation that failed?

Absolutely, that's right. And I didn't have problems with it on two earlier Kali machines. But, of course, I'll have in mind to test the most recent installer today. Since the new computer needs some configuration work anyways, that's fine. Hopefully Oolite will get to life today as flawlessly as on the other machines. I'll give a report then!

The only thing I have to dig into is how I then can copy the commander's configuration to the new computer without breaking anything.

Thanks for your comment!
