I forget how to turn bounding boxes on/off...something to do while paused?
Pause game, then "n". Turns off all debug flags.

If the two really are smaller than the Coriolis/Ico/Dodo, then maybe we can come up with some sort of Handwavium to explain the difficulties in witchspacing out at 10km of the station.

1) Done on purpose as an anti-pirate tactic

2) Result of deprecated shielding technology/lack of modern shielding technology (which allows the hyperspace drive to work closer to the station).

I'm not sure that I find either particularly convincing.

Or might twiddling with the density have any effect?

The power sources a station has to have to gently catch a ship docking at relativistic speeds are needed regardless of the size of the station.
(Decreasing relative speeds from >10% the speed of light to 0 in milliseconds or less?)

This may set a minimal safe distance to hyperspace from, due to space-time distortions.
