Re: Science Fiction Trivia
Well, that was quick … and nobody mentioned Adrian Tchaikovsky's Children of Time, or John Wyndham's Web.
cbr's Harkonnen spider-creature is certainly sufficiently spider-like, as are the spider-aliens from A.E. Van Vogt's The Weapon Makers suggested by Commander_X … so ffutures blunders into the snare with the eight-legs from Metebelis III, and is tangled up tight in the next question!

Okay, I don't think we've quite done this one before but I could be wrong. Sticking to threes for now, let's have three fictional characters in SF universes who are AWARE that they are fictional characters. Usual rules - No two from the same author or fictional universe, and please allow a little time between posting entries to give others a chance.

James Moriarty from T.N.G.

Deadpool, in either the movies or the comics. Breaking the "fourth wall" is a good indicator of literary self realization.

Re: Science Fiction Trivia
That's low-hanging fruit - the first one I thought of - but it definitely qualifies. That's two down, one to go, and have a meaningless bonus point for getting the entire Marvel universe out of the way with one bound!

Re: Science Fiction Trivia
Just to clarify something, I will also accept characters who find out that they are fictional, even if they don't know it at first. My definition of fictional is fairly broad.

Re: Science Fiction Trivia
seeing as everyone is avoiding the thirde answer....
I will have a go with Heinlein's "Number of the Beast" i mean they travel to OZ as well as some of his own books. They must have told some that they were characters in books in their universe.... or maybe not ?

Arthur: OK. Leave this to me. I'm British. I know how to queue.
OR i could go with
Arthur Dent: I always said there was something fundamentally wrong with the universe.
or simply

Re: Science Fiction Trivia
to drink or not to drink that is the question.......
give me 5 SCI FI characters that have been poisoned deliberately not accidentally poisoned by themself/suiside .
usual rules 1 per author/universe.
references required to prove your case...

Baron Vladimir Harkonnen is fatally poisoned by Alia Atreides, near the end of Dune.

The lovely Adira killed to coerce Londo Mollari, Babylon 5...
Adira was poisoned by an associate of mr. Morden, the associate was I believe richly rewarded for a short time...

Re: Science Fiction Trivia
More low hanging fruit - Lex Luthor has killed Clark Kent / Superman with Kryptonite in at least one "non-canon" comic

Re: Science Fiction Trivia
ok cbr is #2
im debating Kryptonite, according to wikipedia " it is a green, crystalline material originating from Superman's home world of Krypton that emits a unique, poisonous radiation that can weaken and even kill Kryptonians."
In my head i thought of a poison as something put into the body either injected or injested.... Radiation works at a distance..... what we call radiation poisioning scientists call Acute radiation syndrome.
ok i will Give #3 to ffutures because i didnt specify how the poision was to be used or even gave an example to hint what i was thinking. also it is commonly called radiation poisioning.
so 2 to go.......
