Thing about decals is their size. To be seen at any distance, they need to be large... too large!
The Green Gecko has exactly that problem, the decals are too large... but hey!
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

Like you said, those decals are pretty big, in your face or subtle :?: :!:

Note the INB24-07 on the decal. I would guess that that stands for Imperial Navy Behemoth.

Which, bearing in mind that the Behemoth initially ended up as part of Matt 634's Galactic Navy, is rather intriguing! In the GN Galactic Navy) OXP which I dug up, the ships inside had the prefix GNN, instead!

Personally speaking, I think the rear view is the more impressive...

But the size of the dock seems too large for what is supposedly a carrier. Presumably the rear section contains engines+fuel and dock and the hangers!

lovely few pages of screenshots, you do some great work with the textures and oolite's new spec/gloss shading cbr, really getting some lovely effects out of it
A_C's screenshots a page or so back, of the sidewider and the one of the cobra outside the ICO station are amazing, always manages to pose the ships and get the lighting looking stunning, real proper photography skills! think i'll grab those for some desktop wallpaper :D

Check out the exhaust effects in this one. Thruster effects look more vivid and emissive.

Image

This isn't some new code, just standard 1.91 trunk. The effect can be achieved by simply increasing the RGB values of the exhaust colors to such levels so that they start to glow. Once that level is reached, the built-in bloom effect in trunk takes over and this is the result.

The thursters in this example were set using:
player.ship.exhaustEmissiveColor={red:235.7, green:245.9, blue:286.0, alpha:0.01}

For anyone interested, the full 27s (66MB) source video in 1920x1080 resolution can be downloaded from here.

To this dumb pilot, it looks absolutely wonderful! A major improvement from what I've been seeing in Oolite v.1.771!

Unfortunately, I think that this particular exhaust effect has to be a no-go after all. It does look good under certain angles, but under others it doesn't look good at all I'm afraid. I'll post an example or two why that is once I get a chance, but for now I will have to say that this fx is good only for specific screenshots or that specific clip. Sorry!
