So this afternoon, after an unplanned misjump, I found myself surrounded by the usual thargoids. My ship is ironass, so I managed to take them all out, then hoovered up about 30 thargons, before realising I had no way out.
No escape pod, no fuel, no electronic thumb, no hyperdrive, empty range finder, and about 4ly short on fuel.
So my question is, how could I have returned to civilisation? Too late now as I had to quit and lose all my hard earned booty!

Re: Stuck in Interstellar Space
The vanilla game has interstellar rescue, but in the "excitement" of fighting Thargoids, you can easily miss it.
Should it happen in future, look out for a ship hyperspacing out and dive into its wormhole.
Always be aware of your fuel level and nearby systems which might be within range!

I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

Re: Stuck in Interstellar Space
Fuel level was unavoidable, it was a 6.9ly jump with no alternative route.
The only thing I wondered, there was a cobra already there when I arrived, and we both survived the skirmish, but he didn’t jump out, but started shooting at me instead! So he didn’t last very long I’m afraid..!

Re: Stuck in Interstellar Space
There are other OXP alternatives:
1) Invest in a fuel tank - some 5 versions exist at a variety of prices (see Fuel Tank and the associated links - the most restrictive are Smiv's Extra Fuel Tanks which can only be accessed when your own fuel tank has run out) but which take up no space. The others either take up a pylon or cargo hold space.
2) Try Fuel Collector OXP (allows scooping fuel very slowly - and even more slowly in interstellar space/witchspace)
3) Or even Interstellar Rescue (magical solution)

Re: Stuck in Interstellar Space
For those looong jumps, I usually lurk a while waiting to hitch hike a jump (get the Wormhole Scanner)... I don't like not having fuel for injecting away on arrival to a witchpoint...DavidG wrote: ↑Sun Sep 11, 2022 7:28 pmFuel level was unavoidable, it was a 6.9ly jump with no alternative route.

Good shout. I have the wormhole scanner, but not the patience to hang around waiting to hitch hike! Is there a ‘give commander more patience.oxp’ yet?

I have that, but when I did the maths it worked out to about 5 hours or something! RL got in the way I’m afraid!
