From F7, I don't really see it. Sounds daft, but could it be a Mac thing?
I don't see how a PC could mask it any different, it cut goes in the middle of the pic. Maybe you have to see a full rotation of the planet?

Do you not see an edge in the surface of Laenin either?

Some time ago I also posted some povray seams in the screenshot thread.
It is probable a calculation error in the way they are made or converted... ( cubemap ed. )

From F7 again - no, I don't see it. Very strange!
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

With a human touch a quick fix is good enough for my eye. If there's a list of the worst offenders it would be easier.
Biarge also merits a touchup

You, lord of tweaking probably have a nicely dense cloudcover.

More likely to be the opposite, as it happens.

Hm. Well, if PCs come with an ugly hard edge detection with automatic blur and smudge filter remedies I'm very impressed.

I'd need to visit the planets in-game to check. But I wonder if the fact that I'm using the original PP textures is the reason?

There's a quest
Well if you might have a different superior source, then..
If anyone wants the retouched textures of Teraed, Laenin and Biarge, I've put them
here .

Much better!
Thank you!
Edited to add:
cbr's reference above (to his comments on seams in Povray planets) seems to be to the two pages starting here
He also wrote about this issue in more detail here in the Povray Planets thread

That's a handsome, happy, delicately textured planet. Looks great. Fertile and abundant with glacial deposits. Not like the perpetually stormy and cloudy one that comes with the Povray I've got. You have a different set altogether?

<grins> There's a thing!
The question now is how many of my Povray textures are different? Are they mostly in G1?
Something to do with matching planet descriptions/Famous Planets perhaps?

My set is the Povray_Planets_Galaxy1_Textures_v1.1.oxp, downloaded just a few months ago.

That's it. I downloaded 1.0 from
this post and the Laenin is identical to the one you posted.
