Zarquon does indeed appear – his overdue second coming – moments before the Universe ends (His last words are "How are we doing for time?")

Re: Missionaries.OXP
Zarquon the legendary prophet is old, bearded, robed, wreathed in light, has starry eyes and a crown of gold.

Right. I had forgotten that one. There should be some opportunity to make that funny too.Cholmondely wrote: ↑Thu Jun 02, 2022 5:43 amHow about Randomius Factoria, the only one rooted in the Lore?
My initial musings on the wiki page were the result of a lack of information. But now, with our creative cluster of budding theologians....

Yes, they made the cut. The Missionaries tribute OXP Iron Ass Missionaries (b1, 22.5MB) has some expansion to the cults and comms stuffing, I don't think it will bring shame onto the original.Cholmondely wrote: ↑Thu Jun 02, 2022 5:43 amHow about Randomius Factoria, the only one rooted in the Lore?
After much testing, I encountered a St.Giles Blessed Barque procession with a slow and angry lobster worshipper in pursuit firing lasers at their heels, and decided it was ok to release it. Religious wars are now in the Ooniverse.

Yes, I laughed and was moved, and maybe a little shocked.
Even though the Blessed Barque is no speeder, the lobster in his Worm was too slow and far away to compose in a frame, but he wasn't giving up.
The LobsterAI may be too hotheaded. When I spawn it in the Aegis, it becomes offended when I come too close, it throws insults and attacks, and is soon slaughtered by the police. You who speak on behalf of the lobsters, what say you to this?

For followers of the Witchspace Lobster, to die in pursuit of lobster eaters is their route to Nirvana!
Was just following a couple of your sects around, when a lobster attacked me. I ate his brother, apparently (that'll be from my Hogster OXP).
No log errors to report, btw!

As long as it's their death wish.
Good to hear. Sometimes it can be hard on the eyes squinting in-between entries of my many bad deprecated habits.

Re: Missionaries.OXP
That would be nice. But would you know if it's accessible to a non-programmer on a Mac?
I made a half-hearted effort to look into the secret settings a little while ago, but the site that was supposed to be helpful, secrets.blacktree.com was down since many OSes ago (I wayback-browsed, but who can say if that stuff still goes), and I didn't see myself installing Xcodetools..
Man, I haven't known a Mac geek for many years.. Where did you all go?

Macs are a mystery to me, as is the world of the Penguinista.

The feeling is reflexive. It's all I've ever been familiar with, since my c64.
Say, could you be bothered to re-download the Missionaries and see if it downloads fine? I replaced my working texture for the Lyre with the fancy one I had on the backburner.
I was going to go for the damascus steel finish since I figure the Church of Giles would splurge on a nice hull, but it didn't look quite right, so I went with black lace. Maybe it's too much?

Downloads and installs fine.
Is there anything in that OXP which could cause multiple ships (not your sects) to be hyperspacing out? I'm seeing lots of outbound activity at the witchpoint, which is most unusual for my home system. Dropped into Ceerti's witchpoint, and within a minute or so I was surrounded by half a dozen wormholes. Very strange!

Well, not that I've quite cracked the AI yet, but much like the salmon, the lobster has an irresistible pull toward the witchspace (though strictly speaking, player witchspace). I've never caught him doing anything like that because he usually attacks upon approach. I have to learn the art of observing from a distance.Cody wrote: ↑Sat Jun 04, 2022 11:33 pmIs there anything in that OXP which could cause multiple ships (not your sects) to be hyperspacing out? Otherwise nothing I've been trying to arrange. But I feel I've experienced something like what you describe and thought it was a cool Oolite intentional random thing.

That's what I use the cloaking device for - observing npcs.
I'll disable the OXP tomorrow (my old eyes are tired now), and see if normal service is resumed.
Sometimes, the core code (which I believe is sentient) has crazy busy times (which I love)!
For an habitual hitch-hiker, six wormholes to choose from is wonderful.

Yes, it's a lot of fun when it feels like that.
Spare a thought for the witchspace-pining lobster, stuck in a system-locked Worm.
