I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills

There is reams of stuff tucked away on the wiki & here on the BB... and oxp's too (all I did was try to link the pages up). I never worked out what it was all supposed to be for (maybe this would have been a use for Hiran's Oolite Communicator/Nexus project).
There were going to be 24 teams, but the whole thing seems to have fizzled out. Murgh & LittleBear will know more...

I have seen several Racers oxp' s, also some racer-ai's ( = some kind of waypoint circuit.)
I have not seen any actual npc races.
Fortunately there is still some time to build the sixteen teams for the HP sidewinder league
