Here is a view to compare different textures

Re: Her Imperial Majesty's Space Navy
No strong feelings about any of this. The invisibility of the real dark station seems to chime with the original team's wishes for a navy which was invisible....
But what do you think, cbr? You've been busy experimenting and must have one or two preferences yourself...
The one thing I do have strong feelings about is that I really like the miniaturised logos with the spotlights that you pointed out last week:
Are the spotlights yours? Or are they part of the Komodo model?
Understated, totally different to anything anywhere else in Oolite, and just (for me) a very nice touch. And makes adding the other logos seem a bit slapdash to me...
Bearing in mind that the HIMSN stuff comes up on the (talking?) scanner as HIMSN, those mini-logos are probably enough...
But what do you think?

Understated is good - less is more!
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

More_Subtle logos
Adhering to function and purpose ( non-approachable military bases , I think the dark blue is more fitting.
The burberry normalmap creates those nice bumps/ridges.
But they will be dark stations when all textures are done...
The small logos and lights on the komodo were placed by the master shipbuilder, I did a small touch up on the used logo.

Re: Her Imperial Majesty's Space Navy
Another issue.
Reality: Telescope & Galactic Almanac both detect stuff from massive distances within the system.
Handwavium: Stealth/masking capabilities built into the stations and ships to make them indetectable from a distance.
LittleBear has presumably built invisibility into his Galactic Almanac (code added to our .oxp to keep stuff invisible).
I presume that Telescope has the same facility.
I'm ignoring Long Range Scanner (as a cheat useful for programmers/testers).
So. What should the situation be with the HIMSN stations?
And I presume that detectability at a distance for Telescope Extender is a function of size/mass. But if there were such a thing as a "stealth" capability and if it were built into the HIMSN carriers, they too could avoid detection to an extent.
Gentlemen. What is your feeling about this?

They should be difficult to find, and dangerous to approach!

Re: Her Imperial Majesty's Space Navy
How many logo variants are in use? I see the sun logo, and the planet logo. Is the crown logo in use?

The crown seems to have been dropped. We pretty much have a 50/50 split on the black or blue background. I prefer black and the flaring sun logo, but from what I understand most here prefer the ringed planet.
Proposal
HIMSN Intelligence services will have a white "Omega" on a black background.
HIMSN Regular Navy will have a white ringed planet on a blue background.
HIMSN Stations will have a white flaring sun on a blue background.
Please give an honest opinion. The only decision that has been made is the 8-pointed star as seen above.
Edit: I'm also contemplating changing to a darker shade of blue for the background.

Thanks Cholly - there must've been some discussion in IRC (or PMs) about why it was dropped.

Re: Her Imperial Majesty's Space Navy
Visibility.
The HIMSN base shows up on my ASC, the Galactic Almanac interface at Xeer Orbital Station, and on Telescope.
1) It seems that we need to remove the beacon from the HIMSN bases. Or disable it. Or restrict its radius to, say, one hundred Cavezzi.
2) We need to include Telescope invisibility code as outlined here by cag.
I'd like to do it. I'm registered on GitHub, but need some pointers as to how to! This business of pull requests/branches/tags/merging etc is rather beyond me... I don't even understand the jargon...

Yes, remove (or restrict) their beacons definitely.

I presume that to download the newest version from GitHub that I click on the green Code button on the upper right and select the Download ZIP option.
And that this version has been Tsoj'ed but not yet cbr'ed!

Re: Her Imperial Majesty's Space Navy
Done. Seems to work on my AppleMac, nobbling the Scanner, Telescope (invisible outside scanner range) & Galactic Almanac. Still visible for Okti's Long Range Scanner (needed for testing and labelled as a cheat for playing).
New issue: Stranger's World.
Station does not appear where it is supposed to (Xeer's sun), but rather in the middle of nowhere.
