Some types of enemies (assassins definitely, possibly some types of pirates*) can and will follow you through hyperspace.
Using IS to evade is fine if you have enough fuel to escape IS. Interstellar Rescue may help, but don't rely on it.


*I think Pirate Interceptors and Aegis Raiders (but I ain't too good at making sense of AIs).

I never had this situation - but what is my experience against yours. So if this happens I'd be interested to see how the pirates would treat the thargoids...

If bandits follow you into IS, it can be entertaining - but you probably won't have time to watch.
If they have the capability/fuel/time to jump out, they will. If not, they'll fight.

Indeed I have been pursued despite I jumped to another star system. It has not happened so far for misjumps.
Let's see what I will do if I end up being followed...

Get a heavy assassin in an Asp on your tail, and it will follow you through to the next system, and unless you're in a super-fast OXP ship, it will stay with you all the way into the Aegis. You can barrel-roll all you want, but you've got to fly straight to dock. Then it will pounce!
