Also, this just happened after i downloaded all the newly re-posted OXP's on Oosat2.....ive had this happen before, and getting rid of a certain OXP seems to fix it....but i have so many now, its gonna be a pain in the ass to find it.....any help is appreciated!

I play with all the OXPs from Oosat1 & 2 installed and haven't hit this problem, so its propabley not an OXP problem. Seems like Oolite is not finding the player or there is a problem with the cobra3's model or texature. I'd reinstall Oolite in case somthing got messed up. As the lastest version of Ramon's Dark Wheel Cobra completley replaces the graphics for all the Cobra 3s in the game, you might want to reinstall that OXP too in case the is a mess up there.

Odd, as not finding the player-entry tends to indicate something is up with Oolite itself. Could take out all the OXPs to check and then if it fires up, move em back one at a time. Pain in the ass, but only way! Mt

Oolite sometimes suffers from Oddites, but OXP clashes are very rare. If as a desginer you make a mistake in an OXP (and I mean one " in the wrong place in an 8,000 line script  ) then Oolite just runs and refuses to have anything to do with your OXP, refusing to follow any of of its commands. Its rare therefore for an OXP to be able crash Oolite. "Bugs" in OXPs tends to be Oolite not doing what the writer meant it to do.

I play with all the OXPs installed on the PC and I know that MtKlima plays with all the OXPs in on the Mac, so I'm pretty sure that arn't any "Oolite killers" out there ATM. One problem could be a texture in an OXP that is high ress. It could be that your machine's graphics card can't display it, but others can.

If your system is low on RAM, then it could be that just the number of OXPs in is eating up all your memory and causing a crash. To run with all the OXPs in on the PC really needs a minium of 700M to run OK (and even then there are some slow-down). Oolite is very fussy about memory and although it will swap to virtiual memoery if needs be, on the PC at least, Oolite is very prone to crash if forced to swap to disk.

A bit late to say it, but if you are new to the game, it is best to intall one OXP at a time and then check Oolite runs OK.

well with 128 SDRAM i think im just a bit underqualified.....still previously its run smoother than a babies butt.....i dunno...atleast i ahve Oolite on my other computer, and it doesnt have all the old(er) ones resubmitted on Oosat2...so i can eliminate about half of em because it runs fine, and on the same system and everything.....=p seeya in about 3 days after im done sorting through them

You definitely need more RAM (it's very cheap at the moment), especially with some of the newer OXP's, most people seem happy with 512k as a minimum.

Probably should be 512Mb ;)

Which is what I get by with for now. (111 oxps running)

If you want to run anything on top of WinXP and firewall and virus software, you should definitely have even more than 512Mb. Other operating systems may get by with less, but XP loves its memory and some firewall/antivirus programs easily take a 200Mb slice for themselves.

I've got to close the browser (Firefox eats like 50-75Mb - should remove some plugins), firewall and virus scanner for any serious gaming.

But my guess is that I usually get about 25+ fps (it is a guess) while playing with 111 .oxp folders in AddOns. The setup is:

2.4 GHz Intel Celeron

512Mb Ram

Radeon 9200 SE (128Mb)

WinXP SP2

Windows XP likes a lot of ram, that's for sure. Here's some tips...

- MAX IT OUT! Cram in as much ram as your system can support. Go for broke. The more ram you stuff in, the happier XP, and Oolite, will be.

- DISABLE USELESS SERVICES. XP enables a lot of background services by default, many of which aren't needed in a typical setup, and some that pose security risks. They can be safely turned off. Many websites exist on geeking XP, and they can tell you how and which services to pull the plug on.

- REPLACE THE SHELL. The default Windows shell proccess (explorer.exe) is a well known memory muncher. There's a multitude of replacement shells on the web, many of which offer a much smaller resource footprint.
My shell of choice is Aston, set up in a minimalist config. Even better, with Aston I have the option of logging into XP without all the stuff that normally autostarts; very handy for games like Oolite.

- VANQUISH THE ANTIVIRUS prior to firing up Oolite.

- ANY RUNNING APPS you don't need for Oolite? Killit, killit, killit!
Running Oolite buttery smooth & rock stable w/ tons of eyecandy oxps on:
ASUS Prime X370-A
Ryzen 5 1500X
16GB DDR4 3200MHZ
128GB NVMe M.2 SSD (Boot drive)
1TB Hybrid HDD (For software and games)
EVGA GTX-1070 SC
1080P Samsung large screen monitor
