I LOVE Elite Dangerous, too bad I don't have a good enough computer to run it :(
I know this one awesome Elite Dangerous youtuber called ObsidianAnt, he posts a video about once a week about Elite Dangerous like some news, events, updates from Fdev, etc
Hello!

Welcome to Oolite!

Hope you enjoy it!

Cholmondeley
Thank you so much! I also love Oolite, because Elite Dangerous costs money I stumbled upon the amazing Oolite and have shared it with all my friends! On my brother's Raspberry pi he is running the linux version of Oolite on the raspbian OS and it now has some error, I should post it later on a bug form.
Thank you and o7 Cmdr!
o7 is a salute, o is the head, 7 is the arm!
o7 Cmdrs! See you in the black!

What I do: coding coding, blah blah blah, Done! Oh, it failed...
What others do: coding coding, wand-wave wand-wave, compile - no errors! yay!

Greetings everybody, I'm back. Haven't played Oolite since before it's latest update. Eager to play again....but I really just wanted to share that I have not played "Elite Dangerous" since the end of last year, before, my external hard drive for games and other stuff died on me. Taking "Elite Dangerous" with it along with other great games such as -dare I mention- "Star Citizen" and even "Oolite". All these were stored on the four tera-byte hard drive that just died. Now, I have a few other external hard rives, no where near as big as the dead one. The two, I'm using now are 931 GB, and I have to keep swapping them over with to fit all the games I generally play and getting to the point, it's only now that I have managed to begin installing "Elite Dangerous" and boy it's taking it's time, It's been down loading since early this afternoon, and now, it's 4:30 next morning with another seven hours to go. Being one of the original backers for "Elite Dangerous". Dare, I mention that I'm one of the fabled "Founder's". Anyway, what I'm getting at here is that I have free access to all the expansions meaning I have "Odyssey" as well as "Horizons" and "Beyond". I just highlighted "Odyssey" without bothering to download "Horizons" first hoping it's all included anyway. The reason, I did wait so long was the lack of space on my other hard drives and lack of money to buy another large hard drive one like the one I had and for a reason, I couldn't access the installer with out it asking me for a product key. Which came with the physical game box that was sent to me from the developers. Which had left at my father's house and neglected to get it back off of him. Now, today, I was thinking that the original game disk is useless, since it's only a now outdated installer for the game. I now realised I didn't really need it at all. Because, I found link to the Alpha demo for the game which should give me full access to the whole game and it's expansions via my account anyway. So, that's why I took so long and haven't tried "Odyssey" yet.

Looking for ward to it, despite really being into "Star Citizen" and hearing a lot of negativity towards "Elite Dangerous" now that's perhaps released it's very last expansion ever and the developer will now stop improving on that game even though I also hear, that it's not quite that was promised during the planning phase of the operation. So, "Odyssey" was about getting space legs, but I hear they didn't include walking around inside the space ships themselves.

Is there still a break in the transition from using the ship to the SRV it carries? I would imagine that, with all that I have seen written about the game That the same break in transition happens when boarding your ship.

Never the less, I'm still looking forward to this big change made to the game and I haven't spoilt the surprise by watching any game play videos, but I do plan to make one myself when I first get back on it.

BTW, are Thargoid ever going to show up outside of their ships or are the really just part of their ships. Being the way they appear to be, they just continue to be enigmatic, but maybe that all for the best.
Right on Commander!!

Welcome back, Commander! My ED Cobra has been parked-up at one of the old worlds for six years or more!
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

I can't say that I dislike it. I never got to try it! I paid my money, got inveigled into a neverending marathon download and then got utterly bamboozled by all the various websites I had to log into with unrememberable secure passwords and no way of knowing what was what.

I tried several times, failed dismally, and came back to Oolite - which works, and does not feature scammers trying to enslave other players!

Actually, not only is there a complete absence of people trying to extort goodies from others, but the altruism displayed around here is truly impressive.

I don't where I left my Chrome coloured Cobra Mark Three, my Sidewinder, or my Gold Coloured Asp-Explorer. I know the latter the last ship I piloted in that game having stopped flying the Cobra Mark three because of the silly dash ornaments I used on it. Time to pick up where I left off.

I've only reached the accolade of Competent myself, but I hardly ever manage to when dogfights against other players, especially Thargoids. I wasn't there when they were handing out missions and the special weapons to take them down with. I'm just so very far behind everybody else in this game.
maybe I have chance to catch up now that a lot of their players have left the game for Star Citizen.

Well, you've done better than I did.

And in Oolite, I can't hit a barn door at 10 paces without artificial aids - well done on your "Competence"...

I played Elite: Dangerous for quite a while. When I started, I hoped that the massive multiplayer adds some atmosphere and could lead to stories that do not feel auto-generated. But weirdly enough, I have this feeling more when I play Oolite. Because of the huge amount of OXPs I have installed, I happen to get surprised from time to time by some OXP that I installed but kind of forgot about. And every OXP written by a player adds another "person"/"personality" to the game, so in that sense Oolite already is a multiplayer :D

Same here. Trouble is I need a Joystick to play Oolite, can't do it on just a keyboard. Is there any way, I can play it using the Mouse to steer, just like I do when playing Elite Dangerous. Anyway, I've never got far in Oolite, but still love the game, My Competent rating is only with Elite Dangerous, not with Oolite where I am still Harmless. The black monks always catch up with me.....

Yes. Shift-M to turn on mouse flight control with roll on X-axis, and Ctrl-Shift-M to turn on mouse flight control with yaw on X-axis.

Have you tried Paddling Pool - creates a safe trading area west of Lave, where you can build up your ship?

Or, my trick is to go west to Zaonce and then to Isinor (profits at each step) and then bounce between Isinor & Tionisla until I've bought EMC, EEU and the other cheaper goodies. Then I switch to the more dangerous Tionisla/Qutiri route.

I just had a look at Elite Dangerous - Odyssey for the first time, and while I find it pleasing, it's still lacking that they don't allow you to board ships or disembark from them without using that holographic blue cylinder.....

The transition is quite abrupt. I do hope they work on that more and introduce the walking around inside your ship expansion.

I still can't get this to work. So, I Googled for more information and it said that it only works in full screen mode.

Is there a full screen mode, or do they just mean the screen is maximised?

Is this important?
