60 years ago - Yuri Gagarin's flight
I have personal habit to celebrate Yuri's flight at April 11, not 12.
In April 11 he wasn't world hero - just unknown Russian young military pilot selected for dangerous mission.

Now I feel old! Thanks, stranger!
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

Re: 60 years ago - Yuri Gagarin's flight
I was too young in this April day 60 years ago to have personal memories - just six and half month old.

And now I hope to live till first man on Mars.

Wholemeal? Sourdough? The Italians do a very nice sour cherry conserve - amarena - which I can heartily recommend - goes very nicely with toast! (or in a bread & butter pudding).
