BB images

Post by montana05 »

Just an observation of mine but backed up by the experience of others as well, it seems that for some time images included at the BB are not shown anymore.

That's another sometimes does/sometimes doesn't thing! For example, this displays fine:

I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

Yeah, a lot of them (certainly a lot of mine) were posted on a service that used to be free but which then decided that the internet pixie money they were subsisting on wasn't cutting it in the real world, and that it was time for users to cough up cold hard cash or their files would be scraped off into oblivion. I fear Postimage will do a photofucket sometime soon and slip behind a paywall too. Sic transit gloria ludi, perhaps?

This is exactly what I had in mind, except the "/300px-Gecko_Dragon_Class.png " I posted exactly the same and the image didn't show up.

It shows fine now from what I can see. I think you had initially pointed the image link for the Gecko to the wiki file page instead of the image itself and that's why it wasn't showing.

It seems to be hit and miss, as I implied upthread. I had the same problem with one of my own images, linked from postimage.org - instead of diplaying the pic, it simply said "Image". I edited the post, re-entered the identical link, and it displayed fine. Go figure!

I hope the phpBB update to 3.3.3 will fix some of the problems we are facing now, however this was my first error message of the day:

[phpBB Debug] PHP Warning: in file [ROOT]/includes/functions.php on line 3781: ob_start(): output handler 'ob_gzhandler' conflicts with 'zlib output compression'

We've had that warning (or something very similar) before. It might be here to stay this time.
It looks like email notification of PMs is still broken, unfortunately!

As Giles said, it's a rickety old ship!
