A couple of questions about private messages

Hey all

I'd like to get emailed when someone 'pms' me, but I can't seem to find an option for that (even though I've been here for over a decade!).

I find that the board throws an error when I try to move pms from my inbox to 'saved messages' or even just if I try to delete the pms. Can anyone help? I'm using Firefox (with a bunch of security addOns).

That function is broken, has been for a while - it may or may not get fixed. As for moving PMs around, that too is broken.
The board's installation needs an upgrade, which probably won't happen. Time will tell!

Thanks, Cody. Actually, your reply stirred my grey matter and made me think I might have asked these questions before.

If money is what is preventing the maintenance / upgrade, it seems likely you'd be able to raise a bit through donations. I'd chip in!

EDIT: also, the lack of email notifications will contribute to a vicious circle: people use the board less because of a lack of notifications; the board seems worth fixing only if it is used . .

I corresponded with Giles recently, and I think finding time is the problem, rather than money.

I think that, er, the problem I had was . . the board had an invalid email address for me.

Some things work, others don't. If I'd sent you a PM, I doubt you'd have received an email notification.
As a somewhat limited admin, I still receive email notifications of new members' first posts.
