Noob question - how do I jump to another galaxy?

Good day,

The Elite wiki says: "One shot hyperdrive engines, used to make one jump to another level galaxy of which there are eight."

But how do you jump when you have obtained this device? Does it require a particular key to be pressed? Something else?

You jump by pressing "g".

All this stuff is in the Reference Sheets which downloaded with the game: Search for OoliteRS.pdf which should be lurking somewhere on your harddisk.

AdviceForNewCommanders.pdf is also worth a peek.

I'm terribly sorry, I thought of it later, but I rely heavily on the Elite wiki, it's a fantastic resource. So much so that I forgot about the documents that come with the download of Oolite.

BTW, could this be a mistake in the Elite wiki, search term "equipment.plist":
"EQ_GAL_DRIVE": may make a galactic jump with 'j' key. The item providing this feature will be removed on use.
Shouldn't that read 'g' key instead of 'j' key?

As an aside, "h" will abort a galactic jump (as will "g" of course) and "g" will abort a hyperspace jump (as will "h" of course).
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

Isn't it utterly brilliant! There is so much wonderful stuff tucked away both there and here on the Bulletin Boards. It's quite amazing what one can discover! Have you found the Rough Guides yet? (Look at Lave or Tionisla in the wiki for the links).

But those two pdfs are just as good.
