Thank you very much cbr, I hope I made good use of your contribution.

Image
Cylon Raider Mark I (green) and slightly larger Cylon Raider Mark II (red)

Cylon Mark II got 3x fore lasers, Cylon Mark I got 2x fore lasers and acting as an escort. Both, thanks to cbr, got specular maps now as well.

Chimera Gunship

Now with normal map, smoothed and with 3x fore lasers and 2x rear lasers, no starboard or port lasers anymore.

Thank you, Mark II is entirely your creation, I just did some minor cosmetics. Mark I is a rougher version of the original. Yes, they are quite deadly now, I adjusted the energy banks a bit so if you don't have an upgraded ship you better get out of there. :D

I have so far unearthed four old 'lore' .oxp's: Lave (Commander Murgh), Tianve (Drew Wagar), Flying Dutchman (Commander McLane) & Monument.

Does anybody know if

(i) there are any others?

(ii) who wrote Monument?

Flying Dutchman is on Box and has restricted downloadability. The others I was able to get my hands on quite easily.
Comments wanted:
Missing OXPs? What do you think is missing?
Lore: The economics of ship building How many built for Aronar?
Lore: The Space Traders Flight Training Manual: Cowell & MgRath Do you agree with Redspear?

Do you have a user for oolite.org to add manifests to the Expansion Manager?

If you do and want to add it to the fix, we can ask phkb to transfer them to you, otherwise after you are satisfied with the work sent them to me and I will add them to the fix OXP (or create a new one if you prefer so).
Somehow I missed the part about the transfer at my first response. Since you already got a lot expansion packs to maintain I will be happy to take over the GalTech fixes, please ask phkb to change them to my user there (zzz.Montana05).

2 questions for the community:

Since I am already in the middle of it, should I create shiplibrary entrances for the fixes as well ? If so, what would be a matching synonym for ships from outside of GalCop space, except the obvious "Alien" ? I mainly got Cylons and Starfleet in mind, but there are other ships which would fit in this category as well.

I find it nice to be able to flip through what ships a particular OXP added, even if they don’t have descriptions.
“Foreign,” “unrecognized,” “unsanctioned,” or “extragalactic” might be some terms you could use. Or they might just be lumped in with the standard “Ships” given that non-Galcop approved craft like the Gecko are.

Personally I had the same feeling, shiplibrary is an improvement, doesn't take much time (maybe 10 min per ship), and still could be justified as an adjustment to later versions.

“Extragalactic” doesn't really fit, I think we all agreed already that the 8 galaxies are actually 8 sectors and 2048 systems (I think) is on a galactic scale not very impressive. “Unrecognized” or maybe "unknown" or "Outerspace" might fit better. I better leave it to native English speakers to decide.

montana05:
How about describing them as being from several Alternate Ooniverses that exists parallel to the known Ooniverse. These Alternate Ooniverses do connect to the known Ooniverse via very specific and very unknowable Witchspace Jump Points thereby only allowing a one way flow of traffic from their Ooniverses into ours. Since these Witchspace Jumps Points are specific and unknowable in our Ooniverse any such Ship that might be purchasable in our Ooniverse could be limited to a specific system or sector or whatever the creator cares to come up with as a justification.

Lost OXPs:
How about S.I.R.F. v2.4.oxp. A dockable ship repair yard placed out beyond the witchpoint that could really use some updating. The box download no longer works. The version in use in my Ooniverse is highly tweaked (of course) but it could be made available if no one else has a clean version. The last update to the OXP was back in 2013 with some notes on the desire to continue working on it. Cannot remember seeing a new post by any of the original creators in my time here so one can only guess that they are long gone. If anyone knows differently then please chime in. There is no license to be found anywhere in this OXP so that might be a slight problem as it would require a complete rewrite and a newly renamed release. Could the graphics and the models be reused or would they have to be redone as well? All of these options are way beyond my cut and paste capabilities. The design elements are intriguing but are far too many generations behind in terms of graphic capabilities. Definitely qualifies as being lost.

I found an original version in my archive and had a look at it. While there is no licence in the readme you can find one in the script. From my point of view this should be good enough to upload it to the manager and, at a later time, modifiy it. Your private version probably would be handy at that time.

An intriguing idea indeed. For starters, I am just looking for a description of a main-group in shiplibrary which could cover several "alien" ships from various OXP's.

In the future will remember to check scripts for license information. Should have known this given how much time is spent browsing through them for clues on how to tweak their code. Looking for specifics within the code one tends to ignore the opening few lines of a given script. Live and learn.

Description 'Alien ' sounds right, as in outside of the oolite universe.

How about S.I.R.F. v2.4.oxp
Version 2.4 now available on the expansion manager or alternatively here: S.I.R.F. v2.51.oxz

Edit:
Version 2.50 now available:
New script to optimize the spawn of the stations, all credit to Dybal.

Version 2.51 now available:
Ported the market definitions to Oolite 1.81 format (all credits to Spara).
Changed the dock AI to dockingAI and slowed the rotational speed (all credits to Dybal).
Added normal maps and shiplibrary description (Montana05).

who wrote Monument?
Are you referring to the TOGY Monuments OXP? If so, that one's not lost - it should be available on the download manager. Unless you mean TOGY Memorials - that was was released by smivs. I sent him an updated version while I was doing the re-release of TOGY so he could publish it, but it looks like it slipped under the radar. You can download the version here: TionislaOrbitalGraveyard_Memorials.oxz.
