Hey Commanders
I've had trouble deleting some of my old PMs, and some of my PMs are in the 'outbox' which suggests they have not actually been sent. Also, I've not had a reply from a couple of people - people who have been on the board fairly recently. Can anyone advice? Thanks.
Are PMs working?

There are some problems with PMs - see this thread.
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills

Hi Cody, and thanks.
That thread you linked introduced me to the Oolite version of 'hooray' ('Ooray!', of course).
I gather from the same thread that, by design - yes? - 'PMs remain in the Outbox until read by the intended recipient.'
I hope I am not, er, scourging Giles's rear.

Yep! They can of course be deleted from your Outbox.

. . without that preventing their receipt by the intended recipient, I take it. OK. Thanks, Cody.

No, they'll disappear from the recipient's Inbox too. That's how it used to work, anyway.

Re: Are PMs working?
Cody, it is important to be clear about this matter. So: which of the following propositions are you asserting?
1) If one sends a PM, then it does get sent to the intended recipient but it remains in one's own outbox until the intended recipient reads it.
2) If one deletes a PM from one's outbox, then (edit: so far as you know, anyway) the intended recipient - who has not read it yet (see 1) - will never receive the PM.
If you are not asserting both 1 and 2, then what are you asserting?

<chortles> Both assertions are true - as far as I know.
