Are there any worthwhile differences between galaxies in Oolite?

If I remember correctly, jumping from one galaxy to another on Elite for the C64 enabled you to escape having fugative status and start with a clean site. I think you also had to jump to complete one of the missions. Apart from that there was little difference and not really worth spending the 5000 credits.

Is it the same in Oolite or are there differences that are worth investigating?

But there are no 'cultural' differences then? Profit margins no better? Same kind of levels of tech available, that kind of thing?

Not in the unexpanded game. However, a lot of the mission OXPs change systems a lot (won't spoil it by telling you how!), so if you play with the OXPs in then there are genuine differences to the Galaxies.

There are some quirky galaxies as well, that you can only cross via a single path. Then there are some realy profitable trading routes less than 1LY apart. But the main thing is the missions.

I've been to OOsat, and they only list Black Baron, Love cats and Assassins' Guild : i looked on wiki but the links seem knackered, eg Thargoid Wars (node 30) takes me to "Your ad here!" etc.

anyone got the correct node numbers please?

Sorry. Its being rebuilt at the Moment, so the old links don't work. The following missions are on Oosat2, but you'll have to scroll manually down the list of all OXPs ATM to find them, rather than jumping straight to them with the links. (Updating the links is on my things to do list, but real world is intervening ATM )

The Missions list and ships list are out of date as 50 odd OXPs have just been reposted. Just have a browse of the 1 page Oosat1 site and the seven page Oosat2 site and you'll be able to grab em all. On Oosat2 ATM:-

Asteroid Storm (just updated, so the link will be closed for a few days whilst Winston updates it!)

On Oosat1 the following missions are avaialble:-

Thargoid Wars.

(Plus of course the 5 missions that you get "free" with Oolite )

The state of Oosat ATM is that you can get all the missions from the two sites, but you have to scroll through to get em. Next phase of rebuilding is to fix all the links.
