Another one...

Post by DaddyHoggy »

@Doc - thanks for the update - I will give it a whirl

If you're still planning on another set I've got another one to add (besides 'Alien Abduction') with two more to follow over the weekend (if I get chance) - got to get them out quick before the creative juices run dry.

One more to go

Governments and big Corporations must be seen to be doing (even if they don't really mean it) - so perhaps they'd pay lip service to public safety?

The small text isn't actually that small - but I drew each pixel by hand - and five pixels high is the smallest I could make it and still keep it readable!

Maybe if you make the small text more grayish-on black, so one should look closer to be able to read it (not sure if that works)

@Rxke - Good suggestion!

Does this work better?

I've considerably darkened the main text and then used a very dark grey to round off some of the corners.

My best so far!

Post by DaddyHoggy »

OK this is it - I'm now a spent force!

I had to fly around for ages until I got the Viper in the position I wanted it (I couldn't think of another way of doing it). You don't half lose a lot of detail when shrinking it down to just 256x128 though

Hope you all like.

DaddyHoggy, if you want to play with ships, scale them, rotate them, make screenshots, this is really handy. Mac only though for now.

@johnsmith - Ah, praise be the Mac - but I'm PC bound :(

@Rxke and @jonnycuba - praise much appreciated - makes it all worthwhile.

Anybody else gonna contribute? Or is everybody hanging back to see if Doc wants to do a 2nd rotation?

I was going to mention it, but it doesn’t do exhaust plumes. :-)

@DaddyHoggy: Good to hear that your daughter is well. Good ideas. I like the Thargon Invaders most.

Haven't really got much time for OXP'ing or writing here atm, but I do plan to release the 2nd set when they are in.

If anybody wants to see them released as they come, or have other plans for 2nd ed. they are welcome to take over though - this is the Creative Commons, right?

Any reports on delays associated with 1.01? I've experienced no in-game slowdown at all, when testing it on my rather modest setup Radeon 9200 (128MB), 512Mb RAM - and an Intel Celeron processor (don't remember which).

44 to go!

It works fine on my flat screen at home, but on my old monitor at work, it cannot be seen,. Yeah I know it's overdue to be changed, but it works and does the main job I want it to.

@Doc - Yeh, Thargoid Invaders is my favourite too! I finally saw two of my adds (inside a Pi-42 in Zaonce!)

I can report that performance of 1.01 is much improved - I still get a few tiny in flight glitches but they stop after awhile... pass, XP and what it might be doing in the background are a mystery to me!

I notice that with Pi-42s and the 'Dodo' station with the Tionisla Orbital Graveyard OXP and in fact Rock Hermits (IIRC) you cannot save the game when docked - only at main stations - is this a 'feature' of the game?

@TGHC - your monitor sounds poorly - I can see it on my 8yr old 17" Dell monitor (ex-work one) - I guess it'll be more visible should it ever make it into space.

The problem is that the rock hermits, behemoths, and other docks are randomly generated, and so the game can't depend that they'll still be there when you reload and restart. System stations are guaranteed to still be around, so we can reload from there.
