Hmm... I might've misunderstood. Samlon aren't wormlike, so scrub that.
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

Tricky... but I'm going to have to go by the plot here - the ship travels in what appears to be a straight line AWAY from our local galactic group,
Obviously you've read it more recently than I have - quite possibly by several decades. But ... if the universe is closed but un-bounded, then starting by heading "away" from Earth doesn't necessarily mean that you're not at some later point heading towards Earth.
From SF contest to unsettled (and possibly unsettlable) cosmology in two easy steps. Film at 11.

forgive me for not making it clear what i was after.
an animal that give a product that is used.
not a terrestial animal transported to another planet.
not an animal that is eaten for itself.

I.E. Spice is the product of the Worms from Dune, they are not consumed for their meat. as a hint for one animal , the product used by humans doesent have to be physical but it does have to be useful. no drugs to get high ( some might consider that useful, i dont in this instance)

please provide both animal and product used. as well as the source material so i can check your homework.....
Arthur: OK. Leave this to me. I'm British. I know how to queue.
OR i could go with
Arthur Dent: I always said there was something fundamentally wrong with the universe.
or simply

Does that rule out the giant sheep of Norstrilia? (Cordwainer Smith) They are essentially hosts for an alien disease, which is harvested from their bodies to make the immortality drug Stroon. So the product is alien, even if the host is not.

Algolian Suntigers (Douglas Adams) - their teeth are harvested as one of the components of pan-galactic gargleblasters. It isn't stated if they have to be killed to get the teeth, if not I think that they qualify.

The Wormulon Queen, in Futurama, produces delicious Slurm. Wormulons are intelligent, so might not count as "animals", though …

Many dogs and lower forms (such as politicians and PR flacks) might challenge your ... criteria.

I'm very glad you posted that link - while I was looking at the Wiki I idly typed my name in and found that one of the links was a book published under my name I'd never heard of - turns out that the publisher (now deceased) converted a Star Trek scenario I'd written to Traveller rules and adapted it to the Traveller universe. Would have been nice if he'd asked permission or paid me for it...

 Looks like the groats aren't the only ones getting fleeced …

That really gets my groat!
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

It's a cut-thoat world, spud! On the subject of thoats...
Oil made from a thoat is used as a makeup remover

I won't mention shoats!
