Game Im working on(IMAGE HEAVY)

Post by Grindalf »

I don't know if its allowed to post things about other games here
But this is what I work on when I'm not playing Oolite or No Mans Sky.
Its a procedurally generated RPG made in a very retro PS1 style. It has no real objective, Just play as you want/Create your own story kind of play. Ive been working on this for just over 3 years now and it will probably be another year before its finished.

NPCs offer quests every so often the quests are randomly generated and at the moment I only have gather quests(bring back to the issuer random amount of random item) and kill quests(kill random amount of random monster)
Image

all my plants are procedurally generated(the graphics are not)
So names, and properties are procedurally generated. the textures are randomly chosen from different texture sets(herb set is at 120 different textures)

In this world I found 4 different berry bushes.
Image
they each gave me
Tabal=7 hp
Stil=10 mp
Whusub=10 mp
Debib=10 hp

of course this is just random and will be different on a different world. The idea is though that you can bring the herbs, berries, flowers and trees back and grow them on your own world(If you want to have your own home world)
Berries are just a quick few hps/mps ect. Good for early game but not great once you have higher levels.
The herbs are a potion ingredient for stats(HP, MP, MGC, DEF ect)
The flowers will be a potion ingredient for effects(remove poison, regen, float ect) but Ive not added the feature yet.
Trees give you wood which is used for crafting certain weapons or building houses.
Random ores have not been finished yet.

You can combine two herbs together to create different potions.
Herbs are randomly generated at world generation(5 different herb types per world) so every time you go to a new world you don't know what potions you can craft.

Building houses and towns...… You can construct houses and find people out adventuring the world who will move in and join your town.
This is a work in progress and not fully functioning yet(I keep changing the way it works as I'm not very happy with it yet)

You can also dig roads with the spade(houses automatically face a road)

Spell Creation......
Spells are created from putting runes together. Each rune has a its own job so putting them together in the wrong way can be harmful
This is a regen type spell that targets the player

And the resulting spell in game
Image
You only start off with a few runes and find more along the way so that way you can keep improving your spells

Using the portal with a Portal key will allow you to access the Region Chart
Image

Zooming out will give you the Sector Chart
Image

Zooming out again will give you access to the Galaxy Chart
Image

There are over 8200 worlds in the galaxy to explore, I could add more than one galaxy but I dont see any need for more than 8200 worlds(I could at least add more galaxies in the future if I feel its needed)

The galaxy map is heavilly inspired from playing Oolite(I recently posted it on the discord chanel) I originally made it for a bit of fun but thought it would be a perfect way to navigate these worlds(before hand I was using portal ID codes but memorizing them or creating a list for them was not very nice for navigating through and using)

And that is what takes up most of my free time, Oolite and no mans sky take up the rest

This is very neat! And of course feel free to discuss it and any other game(s) you want here.
