OK: five examples, from books, TV, film etc., of spaceships which actually look like classic flying saucers, i.e. flattened, circular objects, ideally with a minimum of fuss going on around the edges or on the top or bottom. As an illustration, I'll say that the spaceship from the end of Close Encounters of the Third Kind would NOT fit the bill: too many bells, whistles, organ stops, prongs, blocks and the like.

Star Trek has used various methods, from going really fast (like, even faster than faster than light, or something) in a slingshot orbit around a star, to jumping through a big stone doughnut (Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home and "The City on the Edge of Forever", respectively).

How about "Timeslip"? It involved crawling through something called (I just had to look this up to check the terminology) a "time barrier". The protagonists would end up somewhere in the past or future.
Timeslip was a UK TV series in the early 70s. Not sure whether it ever made it beyond our shores.
