PLease add more functions available in the joystick buttons options menu.
Please could you make more functions to be available for the joystick buttons remapping. For example it will be nice to have:
1)activate the docking computer
2)switch a target of the Advanced space compass
and maybe even more of that now keyboard-only functions to be available for the joystick buttons assignment.

Re: PLease add more functions available in the joystick buttons options menu.
Yup, I can hear you.
In most of the games, I'm trying to group my main functions on the "half-left" of the keyboard (i.e. not further than G key), in order to leave the right hand available for aiming (mouse, or arrow keys). Usually this can be done by using the modifier keys (Ctrl, Alt, Shift) together with the letters.
I'm really surprised why a multi-button controller (like most of the joysticks nowadays) doesn't come with such a setup (or at least "the apps" that use them).
EDIT (I realized I didn't clarify enough my "complain", above):
By "such a setup" for the joysticks I meant the capability to designate 1 or 2 of the buttons as modifiers, and thus be used only in combinations with the others. This way, an (e.g.) 6 button/functions joystick can become (with 1 modifier button) a 10 functions joystick (and yes, with 2 would have 16 functions available). Hah, 16 functions should be enough for everyone (right? similarly with 640K RAM ).
Also, it would be great having the joystick drive (at least some part of) the GUI

Joystick button support for docking computer (standard / fast) and next compass target has been added with commit 036c0ee. Please test tomorrow's nightly build to make sure all is good.

A button to request docking permission would go well with that.another_commander wrote: ↑Mon Dec 31, 2018 5:29 pmJoystick button support for docking computer (standard / fast)...
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills

Happy new 2019 year!
It will be good if the same button but
1. If docking computer is present when activate it
2. If not. then just request for a permission.
But the best if any in the keyboard options menu could be mapped on the joystick buttons too.

Thanks for testing Cody and happy new year!
In commit 32c8b48 I have added the docking clearance stickmapper button you requested. Hope that works well too.

Re: PLease add more functions available in the joystick buttons options menu.
just a thought but people could just use JoyToKey that would enable them to map all their joypad controls to keyboard functions. Its what I use for a lot of games that don't use controller support(I use it for Minecraft for instance)
Re: PLease add more functions available in the joystick buttons options menu.
Of course, people could use joy to key and similar programs, but it`s better to have these functions mappable right inside the options menu. It`s just more comfortable, than having to install any additional tools.

Re: PLease add more functions available in the joystick buttons options menu.
I really try to avoid pressing any buttons on the joystick when pointing my guns at a station, since pressing the wrong button tends to be a fairly terminal experience...
Re: PLease add more functions available in the joystick buttons options menu.
Thats why you should be able to map it on a right button. For example a farthest one from the fire button. And also some joysticks are called HOTAS for a reason. BTW i`m speaking not only about "facing the station right before yourself", but rather "reached the edge of S-zone after the long travel (and probably a fights too)"
