Whatever you like, provided it is something vaguely like human forms of adoption. Doesn't need to be any sort of formal legal process.

Enemy Mine definitely - not so sure about ET, since it's a film I've never actually seen. My first thought is no, since as I understand it the alien simply lives with someone for a while. Opinions?

OK, on those grounds then I'll withdraw E.T., since in the film the alien is just briefly hidden by kids.

Worf, from Star Trek: TNG, was, I believe, formally adopted and raised by a human couple.

Not sure if it counts but "Superman" is the perfect case of an alien adopted by a human family on earth.

Worf and Superman definitely; Supergirl, who is part of the same universe, suggested this theme to me. Treecats are a bit more iffy, since they don't really seem to take on a parental role as such, but since Weber actually uses the word 'adopt' to describe the relationship I'll accept it. That's four, one to go.

The only thing coming to my mind would be Star Wars, Luke and Leila adopted by different families on different planets. Just not happy with this because since its a Galactic Empire you can't really define it as aliens.

Defiance is certainly valid - I've seen a couple of episodes. Some others:

Cassandra, an alien adopted by humans in Stargate SG-1
Luke Smith and Sky Smith - The Sarah-Jane Adventures; several others in the Whoniverse, I think.
Zenna Henderson - The People, a series of stories and novellas about alien refugees who landed on Earth, some of them adopted by humans
Poul Anderson - story I've forgotten the title of in which a super-intelligent alien is raised by humans - but when he establishes telepathic contact with his home world they realise that his intelligence and personality have been permanently stunted by his human upbringing, and they resolve it by making him more human and erasing his memories of an alien origin.
Vernor Vinge - Tatja Grimm's World (sort of) the protagonist is a VERY advanced human raised in a primitive barbarian human culture, so different as to be another species.
