The first Witcher, I kicked ass. The first Wolfenstein back in the early 90's, Kicked ass!
Now I have the later games on disc. So can play any time. Wow, talk about an ass kicking. Hardly getting past 5 mins. Wolfenstein! Ouch. Witcher 2, still trying to figure out the buttons. they were changed from the first game?
Maybe I'm just that wee bit older and i don't spend the same time on a game to the full fun. Oolite was a 64K wire frame game when I started.
Back to Oolite.. Tad more than 6GigB of stuff. That is Bytes not bits.
I mean.. Really. Not being able to dock at max speed with screechies and bangs if you were just that bit off? Not to mention the "Press Space Commander" for being just that bit too much off.
Serious took over fun. Game is not worth playing anymore.

Aye, that's the way of it - too old to rock 'n' roll, too young to die! Slower reflexes and arthritic hands mean I can no longer do combat - which is a shame, as Oolite at 144fps is silky smooth!
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

Re: Game style
I think I would disagree with this statement in the strongest possible terms.Serious took over fun. Game is not worth playing anymore.
I think Oolite is still, and always has been, a fun game to play. All the core elements that made the original Elite so enjoyable are still here in Oolite, and will always be here.
I'm not sure what you mean by "serious". As a simulation of what real space exploration, trading and combat would be like, I don't think even Elite could claim the term "serious". How big are those planets? How far is it to the sun? Just one planet per system? Elite and Oolite were designed to be fun to play, not a "serious" simulation.
A vanilla installation of Oolite 1.86 has a download size of around 100mb, and on my Windows PC installs to around 170mb. To get up to 6Gb of stuff you must have OXP's installed. And if you're dealing with a game you feel is no longer fun to play, then I would suggest your OXP loadout is unbalanced. The recommended approach to OXP's is always to start with very few, then add them to the game slowly so you can assess whether you think the expansion makes your game more or less fun.Tad more than 6GibB of stuff.
If your issue is with a particular OXP, then the author would probably love to get your feedback. Suggestions on improvements are always welcome.

I find that hard to believe, señor. I am afflicted with the same conditions and, as you know, I've always been a keyboard pilot. I find using my hands actually improves the stiffness in the knuckles somewhat. I still enjoy a good session now and then.

Re: Game style
I can play keyboard only (although that's become painful too), but it's never been my style. Even back in the '80s I had a 'stick for the BBC.

Re: Game style
Not what I ment atall
The game is getting too constructed. i.e. queuing for docking?? Competing with Elite? "Realizim?"
I stripped it back to 80 for fun.
still get a laugh shooting the station and taking the vipers out.
Try that in your Cob3 But make sure you have military lasers or it will be a very shot flight.

Docking Protocolcan be disabled in game options. Just press F2 when (if ) docked.
My first Elite was 8-bit, too. However, I find docking easier than ever. I have no
patience for Docking Computer any more.
Make sure to play in shader mode, you will be able to see more than dots out there
