[UPDATED] Vendetta hvy attack fighter

Post by Cmdr Wyvern »

"Vendetta" hvy attack fighter
=============================

Designed with the 'freelance security and enforcement professional' *ahem* bounty hunters and escort pilots (and the occasional mad vigilante) in mind, the Vendetta won't make a Commander much of a living on the trade circuits. But if killing is the business, then the business is sure to BOOM with the Vendetta.

SPECS:
Top cruise speed - .420LS
Pitch - .7
Yaw - .8
Roll - 2.3

Energy reserve - 256 (four banks)
Recharge - 5.1

Hold - 10TC, upgradable to 20TC

Drives: Two Innelmann coaxial thrust, magnetic compression, solid-state engines; standard Torus coils; standard Jump drive.

Primaries: Two laser mounts (four, aft); four low output, short range, fore mounted plasma throwers.

Secondaries: Up to 8 missiles in two internal rotary magazines, four rounds per magazine.

"Standard customer model" comes fitted with integrated fuel/matter scoop, integrated injectors, and fore mounted beam laser.

EDIT: Forgot to mention, it totally passes the fuel station test. Fly in, gas up, fly out, no sudden press space moment. :)

Pteredyne spokesbeing: "Rumors are already circulating that a rogue vigilante wearing a Fawkesian Remlok has stolen and used the Type C prototype to torpedo the Python Class Cruiser Old Baily, NGC-1313. We stress that those rumors are completely untrue!"

Soon to be at a TL 9 shipyard near you, @ 350000cr

In another note, a new version of Missile Spoof is ready.

Impressive. :D

(At this rate, I'm not going to keep Taylor Miller long. There's aprox. a 10:1 chance I'll want to switch to the new ship. And with all the awesome new ships nowadays, it isn't looking good for the Koneko Kobra)

Vendettas can be hard to find in the shipyards.

Most costumers find it advantageous to keep the front beam laser, and install a mil laser on the rear mount. The NPCs will equip it that way.
You'll find the NPC pilots doing other interesting things, such as forming up into hunter-killer wings, or joining police patrols. :)

Oh really? Now that you mention it, it seems like any ship you want is hard to find.
The Koneko Maru took forever to find... I had to go half way across the galaxy.

Umm, I fail to see the logic in this. I've always gone mil on all mounts. Is this a ship-specific thing?

There's a certain method to the madness. It's well known the military laser heats up very fast, and the beam laser, though shorter ranged, runs cooler. Market research has shown most pilots consider the front laser to be their primary weapon.
In that light, the Vendetta is equipped with low energy plasma cannons alongside the fore laser mount. Note these weapons by themselves aren't very accurate or powerful, and are only effective at very close ranges. They have the effect, however, of adding additional force to a beam laser sufficient to bear on a large tough craft such as a Python or Dragon, and can be used on a damaged enemy craft as a finisher, or to force the hostile pilot to eject. The Vendetta is fast enough to close the gap quickly and bring those weapons to bear, negating the range deficiency of both the beam laser and plasma cannons.

At the same time, having a mil laser on the rear allows the Vendetta pilot to keep a distance from smaller craft, and efficiently pick them off before turning about and wrecking remaining survivors.

It's in there. That's how you'll tell a pirate in a stolen Vendetta. Naturally you'll want to target and terminate that rogue as a priority.

A powerful ship! I´ll give it a try. Downloading.

UPDATE: The original low turn rate was a compromise for snipers. In this update, the turn rate is boosted to 1.0, and it now handles like a fighter!

To use this ship as a sniping platform, SniperLock oxp is highly recommended.

I stumbled over this ship by accident but when I saw the name I couldn't help myself, so here a new paint, fitting to the name :D
