Would it be too difficult to add an extra option to toggle it via the game options menu? This way folks with low-end machines could tweak their performance.another_commander wrote:Considering it. There is a visible performance hit on my Intel HD610 when the planet enters view now. Most likely it will come up on master in the near future, but if there are any optimizations that cam be applied, it would be great.

Re: Screenshots
Fantastic work on all the new planet stuff guys! really exciting seeing all these latest screenshots, the night-time city lights look great, hope they can make it into the game one day although i understand its probably quite an intensive effect to do, best of luck with the coding

Re: Screenshots
I like the pristine generation ship.
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

Re: Screenshots
If they're building new generation ships, one has to wonder why? Are the Thargoids about to shut witchspace down? Or is it a B-Ark?

<chortles> That's probably OXP'able in Oolite - the welcome might even be in the code.

Re: Screenshots
In response to a comment posted in this topic, I just wanted to confirm that Reshade is in use for the Viper & Pirate shots seen earlier. The engine flames do look a bit funny with my current fx configuration and is the one part that I think looks better without Reshade. Also, planet atmospheres look a bit too intense at the edges with this configuration, but I don't mind that one very much.
