"The Standard Dirigible Construction Co. of Milwall and Buenos Ayres" from Kipling's With the Night Mail (and about another eight or ten companies in this one story)

and of course "General Products" hulls (made from single gigantic molecules) from Larry Niven's Known Space series.

OK - A British author's SF play (1962) was published as a novel in 1969 (co-written with another person) with a sequel in 1974. Name the author and the play.

Clue 1: The primary author, a scientist, died in 2001. His first novel was written in 1957.

Clue 2: His co-writer is still alive, is not a scientist, but last wrote in the 1980s. They were related.

Right author - the play the question was about was actually Rockets in Ursa Major by Fred Hoyle, novel by Fred and Geoffrey Hoyle, but since nobody else seemed to be getting close I think we might as well call you the winner. Your turn!
