Happy ***
Wishing everybody a very happy Christmas/Yule/Saturnalia etc. Whatever you are celebrating, or even if you are not celebrating anything, have a great day!

Thank you!
(On whatever planet in sector 3 Macrae and the gang are currently holed up in, they'll be celebrating quietly. As inheritors of Scottish traditions, they surely know the real knees-up is six days away. )
Surrounded by presents here and with a giant protein overload to come in a few hours... enjoy yours.

Re: Happy ***
'Twas on the schooner Hesperus
We sailed the wintry sea
She'd have been sailing yet, sir
But she struck on a Christmas tree
'All hands on deck', cried the bosun
I'll put mine down nevermore
For a big fat sailor went and trod on them
Saying 'That's how we treat the poor!'
Merry Winterfest - and for any antipodeans amongst us, Merry Summerfest!

I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills

Re: Happy ***
Happy holiday wishes to all of you, wherever you are.
My fondest memory of this time of year is when school let out at mid-day before Christmas break. There lived at that time (60 years ago) a tall, white-bearded gentleman who rode down main street in a horse-drawn buggy. He played Santa Claus for all the school children, handing out paper bags filled with all sorts of good things.

Re: Happy ***
Nah. Even at 6 n 3 quarters, I'd look forward to the bearded man in a red coat. He would be at the city hall with his sleigh parked outside. Always there before us as his sleigh was way faster than the bus we took. That year he gave me a box that rattled. Inside were 5 steel (not much in the way of plastics then) mind and finger puzzles. Took weeks to figure them out.Malacandra wrote: ↑Wed Dec 27, 2017 8:17 amThis? I thought this only happened in schmaltzy Christmas movies. Re: Happy flu
That's why you got the flu...
My father's 3rd wife was a G.P. She always advised all her patients not to get the jab.. because in her experience, everyone she gave it to, got the flu.
Most games have some sort of paddling-pool-and-water-wings beginning to ease you in: Oolite takes the rather more Darwinian approach of heaving you straight into the ocean, often with a brick or two in your pockets for luck. ~ Disembodied

Ha, me too! But the flu wasn't too bad really, and it was gone by Christmas.

My neighbor has some draft horses and a sleigh he uses for events like this in a couple of small towns nearby.Malacandra wrote:This? I thought this only happened in schmaltzy Christmas movies. How wonderful.
