Oolite 1.86 on Windows: no entry in Add/Remove Programs
But Windows goes wrong easily, so perhaps it's just my installation. The program's installed alright - and runs - but it doesn't show as installed in the old Add/Remove doogit. (I've Windows 8.1, and used the deployment-to-test-release converter.)

It drops an "Oolite Uninstall" entry in the Start menu's folder it creates. Use that if you want to uninstall.

Both my Oolite installs (1.87 trunk and 1.86 deployment) are listed in the Uninstall thingy, but that's on Win7.
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills

It has to do more with user permissions rather than operating system.
When the installer runs, it requests by default user level access from the OS. However, normal users do not have permissions to write to the HKLM portion of the registry, which is exactly where you have to write in order to register the application in Add / Remove Programs. There are ways around it, but at the moment I have the small inconvenience of not having a system that I can spare in case something goes wrong with testing. Testing uninstallers can lead to horrible results in case of a bug or faulty logic. Not really ready to start playing with that.
If one must really have the program listed in Add / Remove Software, they can run the installer as Administrators. In order to keep things clean and tidy, in case of an uninstall requirement they should remember to run the uninstaller as Administrators as well.
