Just wondered if anyone had any escape from pirate techniques..
Just started in the game, means I don't have money to really defend myself and at the moment I point myself towards the planet and spin + tumble, which stops them hitting me, but it takes forever to get to the stations...
I have tried just spinning, but given enough time, the pirate can match...
Any escape tips which don't drag your process to a crawl are welcome.

Have you tried dropping some cargo? They usually demand it anyway, and a few tons of food is a cheap price to pay.
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

I guess your problem is that you have not enough money to buy Injectors yet. Just find a system with high techlevel, sell your Pulse Laser and you will say good bye to most pirates.
There is a Start Advice OXP which help to new Jamesons at Lave by displaying a detailed message about this and offer a little mission which help to cover the small price difference between your laser and Injectors right at the start. You can install it using the "Manage expansion packs" menu, it is listed in the Ambience category. But this is not necessary if you already earned some credits.

And before you earn enough to buy injectors (and possibly some laser and shields upgrades as well), avoid all dangerous systems at any cost.

<grins> Even supposedly safe systems can be dangerous - good luck.gsagostinho wrote: ↑Wed Sep 20, 2017 8:35 pmAnd before you earn enough to buy injectors [...] avoid all dangerous systems at any cost.

Buying a lucky charm may help with that.Cody wrote: ↑Wed Sep 20, 2017 9:36 pm<grins> Even supposedly safe systems can be dangerous - good luck.gsagostinho wrote: ↑Wed Sep 20, 2017 8:35 pmAnd before you earn enough to buy injectors [...] avoid all dangerous systems at any cost.

Yes, living through the opening of the game up until injectors is a pure crap shoot. The transition from no injectors to injectors is when you can actually start applying some strategy and tactics (offensive and defensive, especially escapes). If I were a living Jameson I would without a doubt instantly sell the Mk3 for a MkI with a basic starting kit including ECM, beam lasers, and injectors, at the least. Launching in a naked Mk3 is more or less suicidal.Cody wrote: ↑Wed Sep 20, 2017 9:36 pm<grins> Even supposedly safe systems can be dangerous - good luck.gsagostinho wrote: ↑Wed Sep 20, 2017 8:35 pmAnd before you earn enough to buy injectors [...] avoid all dangerous systems at any cost.
