Well, on the one hand, God bless Google, but on the other hand, I'll let someone who actually watched it have first dip at the answer. 8)

Well, I used to watch it (and enjoy it) here in the UK. It's a good bit of fun if you can find it anywhere.

OK, I'll admit to having watched it - the police in Gerry Anderson's Space Precinct.

It wasn't all bad. Just most of it...

Okay, let's try something a little harder...

"Shit. Shit. Shit. Shot by a nobody." Whose not so famous penultimate and last words are these, and who shot him, in which 1984 British humorous novel? What's the connection with Wells?

Good luck googling that one!

Is the Wells connection The Invisible Man, by any chance?

Nope. OK, first clue - the connection is The War of the Worlds

OK, another clue - the plot involves cricket, Doctor Watson, Doctor Jekyll, another Doctor whose name is in the title (and no, not Doctor Who either), various French impressionist artists, Raffles the Amateur Cracksman, Buffalo Bill, Jules Verne, Oscar Wilde and a murder by Apache arrow at Lord's.

Castor Vilbastard was shot by [unknown*] in W.G.Grace's Last Case or the War of the Worlds Part Two - sounds very Rushton.

Right book, wrong death, but I think it's close enough. Towards the end of the book Professor Moriarty is shot by Picasso, and the last words are Moriartys. The evil plot behind it all is an attempt to find a cure for the common cold, allowing the Martians to invade again.

OK, I point the dipper in your general direction. Your turn!

Thankee! A well-adapted bird, is the dipper - good at underwater stuff!

An easy one: in which trilogy would you find the cities Marinia and Krakatoa?
